Netflix dropped the Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE docuseries with eight episodes on August 21, 2024. The docuseries chronicles the journey and process of forming the HYBE and Geffen Records global K-pop girl group, KATSEYE. The two companies' collaborative efforts started with the auditioning of 120,000 female applicants.

Each episode from the docuseries showcased the fierce competition that resulted in the elimination of the girls from Dream Academy. However, no one was eliminated in episodes 2 and 4.

Out of those 120,000 applicants, only 20 girls made it to The Debut: Dream Academy survival talent show. It is similar to I-Land through which the K-pop group ENHYPEN was formed. In The Debut: Dream Academy, the 20 girls were trained and then evaluated on their skills and improvements.

Abby and Naisha were eliminated in episodes 1 and 3 respectively. By the last episode (episode 8), only 10 girls Ezrela, Lara, Emily, Yoonchae, Sophie, Daniela, Megan, Marquise, Manon, and Samara made it to the Top 10. They gave their one last performance before Lara, Yoonchae, Sophie, Daniela, Megan, and Manon were named as the official members of KATSEYE.

Who was eliminated in each episode of Pop Star Academy: KATSEYE?

The docuseries is a fan-interactive project whose goal was to model a group using the same K-pop techniques but removing the K from K-pop. It shows the talent scouts looking for promising 6 debutants among 120,000 applicants. Compared to Dream Academy, this documentary helps to get to know many of these females on a far more personal level.

As the show progresses, things become more difficult, and selecting a lead vocalist sparks a lot of conflict and drama within the group. The program inevitably transitions into a survival show in the second half, with a trip to Korea serving as a powerful reminder.

Episode 8 featured as a live program, with live streams of friends and family back home anxiously awaiting for the final 6 girls to win the survival show. Although 10 girls make it to episode 8 for the final countdown, only six win including Lara from India, Manon from Switzerland, Yoonchae from Korea, Megan, Sophia, and Daniela.
