BTS's Taehyung, alongside Park Hyo Shin, has dethroned Mariah Carey with their newly released November single, Winter Ahead. This achievement makes Taehyung the first artist this decade to replace Mariah at number one on this chart.

Winter Ahead not only dethroned Mariah's classic but also achieved impressive sales figures, selling over 10,300 copies in the United States. This impressive figure placed Taehyung ahead of Mariah’s timeless holiday anthem, All I Want for Christmas Is You, which sold approximately 3,200 copies during the same period.

Christmas Tree is the original soundtrack for the popular South Korean drama Our Beloved Summer, which reached #1 in 2022. Winter Ahead follows the success of this earlier holiday release.

BTS’ Kim Taehyung released the track Winter Ahead along with its music video for on November 29, 2024. The song features South Korean ballad singer Park Hyo-shin. It has been recorded and filmed before Kim Taehyung began his military service.

Winter Ahead is a jazz-pop track with a mellow and soothing vibe. The song highlights the vocal chemistry between the BTS member and Park Hyo-shin. Grammy-winning artist Jesse Harris, best known for Don’t Know Why, composed the track.

Just a week after Winter Ahead, on December 6, 2024, BTS’ Taehyung dropped a new rendition of White Christmas. The duet features his soulful vocals alongside the iconic voice of Bing Crosby, drawn from his 1950 recording. The timeless classic has been reimagined to blend Crosby’s legendary sound with Taehyung’s smooth, jazzy tone.

Bing Crosby’s White Christmas holds a special place in music history as the best-selling single of all time. Taehyung’s version brings a modern touch while honoring Crosby’s legacy. The song bridges generations, delivering a message of warmth and holiday spirit.

Taehyung first announced White Christmas on November 7 at midnight KST. The cover image showed Bing Crosby and Taehyung’s late dog, Yeontan, both in Christmas hats. The thoughtful detail hinted at the personal nature of the project.

The animated music video for White Christmas is a heartfelt tribute to Yeontan, who recently passed away. Fans were deeply moved by the emotional tribute. Many called it a beautiful way for Taehyung to honor his beloved furry friend.

BTS' Taehyung is currently fulfilling his mandatory military service in South Korea. He, along with fellow members Suga, RM, Jimin, and Jungkook, is set to complete his service by June 2025.
