There was much anticipation around the casting of Kim Soo-hyun and Kim Ji-won even before the show aired. Further, it went on to become the show that hit 20% in almost a year after SBS's drama Model Taxi 2, which concluded in April 2023.

Furthermore, the viewership rating reached its maximum point at 24.85% as per Nielsen Korea (nationwide) in the last episode. It is considered a big jump considering that the initial viewership rating was at 5%.

From the first to the fifteenth week of its release, the drama even broke the record as the first TV drama to be placed in Netflix's top 10 in non-English languages, consecutively. It also held the top spot for the number of paid subscribers for TVING, tvN's streaming platform.

Kim Ji-won adds another achievement

Along with Queen of Tears garnering international recognition, Kim Ji-won has also accomplished a remarkable feat in the K-drama industry with the show. Owing to the fact that Ji-won has now collaborated with 4 of the most renowned screenwriters in the industry: Park Hae-young, Ji-eun, Kim Eun-sook, and Lim Sang-chun.
