“Redefine success”— Fans react as BTS' Jungkook joins Taylor Swift, Beyoncé & more as only soloist to break $10M box office record for concert films

On December 10, 2024, the Korean media publication Naver reported that Europe’s Billboard, aka World Music Awards, named BTS' Jungkook as the only solo artist in history, alongside Taylor Swift, Justin Bieber, Madonna, and Beyoncé, to have a concert film gross over $10 million at the global box office.

The BTS member’s first documentary, titled I AM STILL, was labeled as the concert film. This was released worldwide on September 18, 2024. BTS' Jungkook's latest milestone delighted his fans.

As a result, his fans poured the internet with their love and admiration for the SEVEN singer.

Several other reactions to BTS' Jungkook’s latest accomplishment were seen online. While some lauded him for the success of his documentary, which is not even a concert film, others referred to Jungkook as a "legend."

BTS' Jungkook’s I AM STILL was released in September 2024 through limited screenings

The documentary I AM STILL featuring BTS' Jungkook premiered in theaters globally on September 18. Initially, the movie was released in limited screenings, but more cities and shows were added later due to high demand across the globe.

This film documents Jeon Jungkook's experience during the making of his solo album, GOLDEN. This album came out on November 3, 2023. The official website of the documentary states the following synopsis:

“Through exclusive, unseen interviews and behind-the-scenes footage, alongside electrifying concert performances, this brand new film showcases Jung Kook’s eight-month journey, capturing his unwavering dedication and growth.”

Additionally, on December 4, the British publication NME reported that BTS' Jungkook’s movie surpassed $18.5 million (£14.6 million) at the international box office. Moreover, according to distributors Trafalgar Releasing, over 1.3 million people have seen the documentary at cinemas,.

As stated by Trafalgar Releasing’s CEO, Marc Allenby, BTS' Jungkook’s I AM STILL is the highest-grossing music cinema event of 2024 as well as the highest-grossing film by an Asian soloist.


In related news, the docuseries I AM STILL was released on Disney+ with three episodes on December 3. The series features 55 minutes of additional footage in comparison to the documentary.
