Which characters return in Squid Game season 2?
In Squid Game season 2, Gi-hun, played by Lee Jung-jae, returns to the deadly competition three years after his victory. Haunted by grief and trauma as the sole survivor, he spends his 45.6 billion won prize trying to uncover the organization behind the games following the death of their creator, Oh Il-nam. Determined to take them down, Gi-hun re-enters the game, unaware of the true identity of its current leader.
Lee Byung-hun portrays In-ho, the "Front Man" who assumed control of the Squid Game after Il-nam’s death. A former winner of the games, In-ho now leads the pink-masked guards and dons an all-black uniform. In a surprising twist, he disguises himself as Player 001 under the name Young-il to join the games and confront Gi-hun, who has never seen his face.
Wi Ha-jun reprises his role as Jun-ho, a police officer who infiltrated the Squid Game in season 1 to search for his missing brother, In-ho. Jun-ho discovers his brother's identity as the Front Man, but their confrontation ends with In-ho shooting him off a cliff. Surviving the fall, Jun-ho now works as a traffic officer, preparing to re-enter the fight.
Gong Yoo also returns as the mysterious recruiter who lures vulnerable individuals into the games. Known for challenging participants to Ddakji, he recruits Gi-hun and others by offering cash prizes and invitations to the deadly competition.
With new challenges, hidden identities, and complex relationships, season 2 raises the stakes as Gi-hun seeks justice in the face of greater dangers.
