Culture critic Jung Min-jae faced severe backlash from BTS fans following his comments on Suga's DUI case. On August 6, Suga was reportedly drunk driving on an electric kickboard/scooter in Yongsan and fell near his apartment building.

On August 7, the K-pop idol and his agency took to Weverse admitting his actions and mentioning that he drove on an electric kickboard. It was reported that the electric kickboard has a seat attached.

The same day, BIGHIT MUSIC shared another statement addressing the inconsistency in the previous post.

They said,

“The company came to the conclusion that the product used by the artist was an electric kickboard with a seat. During an additional investigation (of the incident)”.

Besides this, both the artist and agency have not made any further statements.

On August 14, the critic in an interview with The Korea Times weighed his opinion about Suga's withdrawal from BTS and the severity of a DUI case in South Korea. According to Jung Min-jae's perspective, it is not likely that BIGHIT MUSIC will consider removing the singer from the boy group.

He further stated,

“Not only did he drive drunk, but he also repeatedly provided misleading explanations, which has deeply disappointed Korean fans.”

Netizens have shown their disappointment in the critic for accusing Suga of making multiple misleading statements. Fans further demanded that he should take back his statement.

“We demand you to retract your words, accusing BTS SUGA of "repeatedly providing misleading explanations", accusing him of lying despite him proven to be telling the truth! Have shame for defaming your "Nation's pride" based on lies of Korean media as a critic!”- said a fan on X.
“Yoongi only released one statement, yes? My God, this only shows how desperate they are to see the boys down.”- another fan added.
“This is blatant accusing Yoongi of changing statements when he only released one and never did he once change it. Huh I smell defamation here.”- a user stated.

Fans were confused and angry as BTS' Suga's has only made one statement following the incident.

“Where THE FCK did he got "repeatedly provided misleading explanations" from???? Yg made ONE post explaining the situation and apologizing. And that was it.”- a fan stated.
“Audacity of these people to be brazen despite getting caught disseminating fake news defaming someone!”- a user added.
“You have crossed the limit, you should have thought while saying this, Suga will not apologize, he has already written an apology letter for his mistake, you will have to apologize to Suga for spreading wrong information And for falsely accusing Suga stop this nonsense.”- a user commented.

BTS’ Suga's fans allegedly attacked Jung Min-jae on social media amid the ongoing DUI case

Recently, Jung Min-jae took to his X and alleged that the BTS fans are attacking him online for his opinions regarding Suga's DUI case. He shared an alleged screen grab of his email receiving demands from fans to take back his words regarding the accusations against the D-Day singer.

He further shared a screenshot allegedly from his wife's Instagram page stating that the BTS fans have harassed her online.

He stated,

“There are people who even went to my wife's Instagram and left comments about this. Fortunately, my wife and I are both quite skilled at this, but I can't help but feel a little disgusted. Why on earth does Suga drive drunk and cause such atrocities here and there? Is it so hard to live a normal life while following the law?”

Jung Min-jae also responded to one of the tweets made by netizens regarding the demand for retraction of his statement.

“Regarding Suga's drunk driving, I told the Korea Times that I don't know if he will leave the group, but if he doesn't, it will be difficult to regain public trust and his domestic activities will not be smooth. Now, my Twitter and inbox are full of notifications demanding an apology. Shouldn't Suga be the one to formally apologize once again? Please come to your senses," he added.
