Romance in the House episodes 7-8: Recap

Episode 7 of Romance in the House, titled Our Home Ground, begins with Mi-rae in distress after witnessing her mother, Ae-yeon, with Moo-jin. Feeling overwhelmed, Mi-rae leaves a note for Ae-yeon, expressing that she cannot continue living under the same roof as her father.

As Mi-rae roams the streets, she unexpectedly encounters Tae-pyeong. Concerned for her well-being, he invites her to his home to rest, eat, and change into fresh clothes. Though initially hesitant, she eventually agrees and meets Tae-pyeong’s friends over dinner and drinks.

In a surprising revelation, Tae-pyeong shares that the CEO of the mart, who Mi-rae thought was his father, is his brother. He explains that his grandfather brought him into the family, and the CEO accepted him as a son solely for inheritance purposes. Discovering this truth during his school years, Tae-pyeong left home and never returned, though he remains legally recognized as the CEO’s son.

Then, the conflict traces back to Ae-yeon’s pregnancy, which derailed Moo-jin’s baseball career, leading him into a life of manual labor, regret, and alcohol. As a child, Mi-rae overheard one of Moo-jin’s friends echoing his sentiment that having Mi-rae has ruined his career, which devastates her.

To cope with her frustration, Mi-rae turns to her taekwondo practice. However, when she later meets Tae-pyeong, he suggests they do something different—learn how to ride a bike.

As they ride around the park, Mi-rae notices her father, deep in thought, oblivious to an oncoming scooter. In an attempt to protect him, she loses control of her bike and crashes into the bushes. Both Moo-jin and Tae-pyeong rush her to the hospital. Fortunately, she isn’t seriously injured.

Outside the hospital, Moo-jin reprimands Mi-rae for taking such a dangerous risk. He also takes the opportunity to apologize, explaining that his resentment was never towards her but towards himself for failing as a father. He admits that having her and her sibling was the best thing in his life, bringing Mi-rae to tears.

Back at home, Ae-yeon goes through Mi-rae’s belongings and discovers something shocking—a document that reveals the bet between the father and daughter about wooing Ae-yeon to the villa sale, concluding episode 7 of Romance in the House.

In Episode 8 of Romance in the House, titled "The Promised Eighth Inning," the story picks up with Moo-jin dropping Mi-rae off at home after her hospital visit. At the entrance, Mi-rae invites Moo-jin to come inside, which lifts his spirits.

However, they are met by an upset Ae-yeon, who has discovered the "pledge" letter. A heated argument ensues as Ae-yeon confronts Moo-jin and Mi-rae about the bet. Ae-yeon is hurt by the humiliation and the chaotic scene that follows. The next day, Mi-rae attempts to reconcile with her mother by visiting her at work and trying different ways to make amends.

Later, in this episode of Romance in the House, Tae-pyeong invites Mi-rae to dinner, and he eventually asks her out on a date. Mi-rae agrees to consider it once things with her mother improve, making Tae-pyeong happy. Meanwhile, after dinner, Tae-pyeong drops Mi-rae off, and she reassures him they can go on a date when her family situation stabilizes, which excites him.

Meanwhile, Ae-yeon arrives at Moo-jin's apartment with luggage to ensure their son is living well. She demands the pledge copy and tears it up, warning Moo-jin against making such deals in the future. She also questions why Mi-rae expressed dissatisfaction during their argument.

In a subplot on Romance in the House, a suspicious neighbor at the Family Villa is investigating Moo-jin. He finds a photo of Moo-jin, the old landlord, and the accountant in the trash. Meanwhile, Moo-jin receives a mysterious text from someone claiming to be Kim Myeong-kyu's daughter. The tax accountant also receives a call from the same number.

The CEO called Mi-rae to persuade Tae-pyeong to work at the company. During a meal with the CEO, Tae-pyeong learns that Mi-rae praises and supports his decisions, which delights him.

In a surprising turn, Ae-yeon joins Moo-jin at a baseball match and requests Moo-jin to stay with her. This leads to an emotional moment where they share a heartfelt hug and finally agree to be together.

This episode of Romance in the House concludes when Mi-rae later meets Tae-pyeong outside with a birthday cake, where they confess their feelings and kiss, leaving viewers elated.
