The first season of Romance in the House concluded with its final two episodes, airing on Saturday, September 14, and Sunday, September 15, on JTBC and Netflix. The drama follows Byeon Moo-jin (Ji Jin-hee), who once had a close relationship with his wife, Geum Ae-yeon (Kim Ji-soo). The couple shares two children, Byeon Mi-rae (Son Na-eun) and Byeon Hyeon-jae (Yoon San-ha).
The series concludes on a positive note. Ultimately, the family members pursue their own paths, maintaining a healthy balance between independence and togetherness but remaining closely connected and content with their lives.
The likelihood of a second season of Romance in the House seems slim, as the show concludes on a happy note with no unresolved plotlines or loose ends. The story ties up well, leaving little room for further development.
Romance in the House episodes 11 & 12 recap: The family finds resolution to their conflicts
Episode 11 of Romance in the House, titled 'Following the Journey of Moo-jin,' delivers a mix of drama and revelations, starting with Ae-yeon and Moo-jin sharing a sweet moment.
While walking home hand in hand, their peaceful evening is disrupted when the suspicious neighbor, Jeong-hyeok, aggressively questions how Moo-jin acquired his wealth. Ae-yeon brushes off the accusation, but Moo-jin’s financial history soon comes to light.
In a flashback, Moo-jin was caught in a disastrous pre-sale scam while trying to buy property. He lost his down payment and was forced to give up his snack bar. His efforts to provide for his family turned desperate as he sought to track down the con artist, Jae-mun, who had scammed him.
Moo-jin eventually finds out that Jae-mun is in Thailand and living lavishly after acquiring a bar. Fueled by frustration, Moo-jin confronts him with a high heel, but despite cutting himself, he isn’t alone in seeking revenge. A wealthy woman, whose daughter had also been conned by Jae-mun, teams up with Moo-jin, sharing her own tragic story of losing billions in a marriage scam.
Moved by Moo-jin’s plight, she offers him a large sum of four billion KRW, encouraging him to return to Korea and focus on his family. She also happens to be a fan of his team when he used to play baseball. Though grateful, Moo-jin feels ashamed of how he came into the money, choosing to keep it a secret.
Meanwhile, Tae-pyeong and Mi-rae continue to hide their relationship from colleagues, though things become complicated when one coworker starts flirting with Tae-pyeong. Mi-rae impresses at work, catching the CEO’s attention, but rumors quickly spread that her potential promotion is tied to her relationship with the CEO’s son. The scandal casts a shadow over both her and Tae-pyeong.
Ae-yeon, on the other hand, lands more modeling opportunities with Moo-jin by her side as she prepares for her photoshoot. Moo-jin reconciles with his financial advisor in this episode of Romance in the House, who admits his jealousy over Moo-jin’s sudden success. They agree to put their differences behind them.
As tensions rise, Tae-pyeong defends Mi-rae’s integrity at work, and the team leader steps up to clear Mi-rae’s name. The CEO ultimately decides to address the rumors, publicly welcoming Mi-rae into the family. Romance in the House episode 11 concludes with a funny brawl between the fathers of Mi-rae and Tae-pyeong, Moo-jin and CEO Nam, respectively.
The final episode of Romance in the House, titled 'Out Romance,' picks up where the previous one left off, with the fathers engaging in a playful argument. Mi-rae and Tae-pyeong step in to calm them down, reminding them that it's late at night and they're in a residential area.
Mi-rae then takes Moo-jin back to her apartment, questioning why he confronted CEO Nam and whether he intended to get her fired. Despite her concerns, she admits that she felt touched by his actions.
Later, in the finale of Romance in the House, Moo-jin visits Tae-pyeong at his taekwondo class and gains a newfound understanding of why his father is so proud of him. The two reconcile after their argument, with Moo-jin acknowledging how much his father cares for him.
Tae-pyeong then meets CEO Nam for a rare drink together, questioning why Nam chose to be his father despite not being biologically related. Nam, somewhat surprised, explains that while it started as a sense of duty, it evolved into genuine love as Tae-pyeong grew closer to him.
Tae-pyeong, in turn, confesses that for the first time, during his argument with Mi-rae’s father, he truly felt proud to have a dad. The pair share a heartfelt moment, bonding over drinks and conversation.
The finale of Romance in the House also saw Moo-jin confront his son, Hyeon-jae, about his recent distant behavior. Hyeon-jae reveals his frustration, explaining that he feels let down because Moo-jin pushed him into business when he wanted to pursue academics.
Hurt by his father’s lack of support, Hyeon-jae decides to move out of the apartment, leaving Moo-jin to reflect on his mistakes. Mi-rae and Ae-yeon also learn of Hyeon-jae's decision, but later, Hyeon-jae opens up about feeling neglected, particularly during his parents’ divorce.
He recalls being bullied at school, with classmates taunting him about his father abandoning the family. Ae-yeon has a heart-to-heart conversation with him, apologizing and reassuring him that they only wanted the best for him. Ae-yeon eventually invites Moo-jin on a trip, where they enjoy a peaceful getaway, spending time together around a bonfire.
She reflects on how her house feels too big for her to live in alone but admits that she enjoys the solitude for now. Back at work, Mi-rae earns a well-deserved promotion. Meanwhile, Tae-pyeong decides to return to teaching taekwondo to children. He feels it’s where he truly belongs, rather than working in his father’s company.
Mi-rae and Tae-pyeong plan a future vacation together, but Tae-pyeong suggests taking things slowly and expresses his desire to be with her for a long time. Moo-jin’s career also takes a positive turn as he becomes a professional baseball coach, finding fulfillment in mentoring young players.
Mi-rae visits his academy and shares how happy she is to see him thriving. The two reminisce about their childhood memories. Romance in the House wraps up on a positive note, with each family member thriving in their respective fields and feeling fulfilled with their accomplishments.
