On Tuesday, June 18, THE BLACK LABEL released a statement confirming that BLACKPINK's Rosé has signed a management contract with the agency for her solo activities. Following this, fans soon noticed the choice of words. While most K-pop artists sign an exclusive contract with agencies, the introduction of the term 'management contract' confused people.

However, they soon explored its differences. An exclusive contract would mean that the artist can only roll out schedules and projects strictly through the agency they signed with. A management contract, on the other hand, allows the artists to sign and work with multiple companies.

Therefore, in Rosé's case, selective schedules, especially those in South Korea, are expected to be carried out by THE BLACK LABEL, under the supervision of the producer Teddy.

The statement also revealed that the idol is preparing for global activities and will be signing with other agencies and record labels for the same.

When fans explored these details, fans commended the idol's decision.

They felt that the management contract was well-thought and smart. Here's how the fans reacted:

"I knew it. Rosé knows what she is doing," said a fan on X.
"TBL is just for her management. She is still going to sign with global record labels (for her music) and said that she is CURRENTLY preparing to meet global fans with NEW MUSIC. OK THIS IS THE BEST OUTCOME," added another X user.
"OH IT'S JUST MANAGEMENT LABEL. HALLELUJAH," said an X user.

More people stepped forward to clear the confusion between an exclusive and management contract.

"Rosé doesn’t have an exclusive contract she has an management contract, with TBL who clearly states that the she will be working with global music label and she's vastly different from their artist btw," added another fan.
"People need to realise that Rosé isn’t stupid, if she signed with the black label, that contract was GOOD and it was a management contract, not an exclusive contract, like genuinely get a grip," said an X user.
"Her contract is management, she has the last word in everything. She won’t do what she doesn’t want to as simple as that," added another fan.

BLACKPINK's Rosé confirms her management contract with THE BLACK LABEL

On June 18, following speculations of BLACKPINK's Rosé signing with THE BLACK LABEL, a subsidiary of YG Entertainment, both parties confirmed the same through statement releases. THE BLACK LABEL was opened by the producer Teddy, a former member of the YG boy group, 1TYM in 2016.

The agency houses several solo K-pop artists such as BIGBANG's Taeyang, Jeon Somi, etc. However, what makes the BLACKPINK member's contract different is that it's a management contract, unlike the exclusive contract signed by the other artists under the agency. Here's what the agency's statement read:

"We have signed a management contract with Rosé. Teddy and Rosé have worked together as producer and artist for a long time now and recently, a management contract with THE BLACK LABEL was signed based on the mutual trust they share."

The statement continued:

"Currently, she is preparing to meet her global fans with new music, and she will be working with global record labels for her global activities in the future. Please look forward to the greatest synergy between the idol, who has an unrivaled musical color, and THE BLACK LABEL, whose goal is the free activities of our artists."

Therefore, the statement clarified that the agency and the idol are not exclusively connected and that the BLACKPINK member can sign with other labels and agencies for her diverse activities.

Following the news, fans are not only excited to see her rollout schedules under THE BLACK LABEL but are also thrilled to see what she has in store for them with respect to her global activities.
