Rowoon, Shin Ye-eun, and Park Seo-ham's upcoming drama will reportedly begin filming in May 2024. On Thursday, April 18, South Korean media agency Joy News 24 reported that the upcoming sageuk (historical) drama will start filming soon, creating much anticipation among fans.

Takryu or Murky Water is a historical drama based on the story of a man who starts as a gangster at Mapo Port on the Han River but later becomes a legend in the Joseon era.

Extraordinary You star Rowoon and Revenge of Others actress Shin Ye-eun will reportedly lead the drama as the main characters, Park Seo-ham and Park Ji-hwan will also join the cast. Rowoon and Shin Ye-eun are expected to showcase high-quality performances as they are well-versed in historical dramas.

Rowoon previously showed his acting skills in sageuk dramas like The King's Affection as a royal tutor and physician and he also played the role of matchmaker in the drama The Matchmakers.

Meanwhile, Shin Ye-eun also appeared in the 2023 historical drama The Secret Romantic Guesthouse alongside Ryeoun.


All we know so far about Rowoon, Shin Ye-eun, and Park Seo-ham's upcoming historical drama

Takryu or Murky Water is garnering attention as it marks director Choo Chang-min's first-ever directorial venture in a drama series. He has previously worked in films like Seven Years of Night, Gwanghae: The Man Who Became King, Lost in Love, and many more.

It is penned by writer Cheon Seong-il who is popular for his work in the Netflix drama All of Us Are Dead, L.U.C.A.: The Beginning, and films like The Long Way Home, The Pirates: The Last Royal Treasure, and more. Takryu or Murky Water will also mark his second historical drama after The Slave Hunters.

In June 2023, Rowoon's agency responded to reports of his appearance in the historical action drama, stating that the actor was reviewing the project. Meanwhile, in February 2024, Shin Ye-eun’s agency, PNIO Entertainment, also responded to the reports saying that the actress was positively considering the offer.

On the other hand, the Semantic Error fame Park Seo-ham was discharged from his duties following the completion of his mandatory military service on December 9, 2023. As per the reports, this drama will be his first project following his discharge. However, his agency previously stated that nothing has been confirmed about his upcoming activities.

As per SPOTV News, Park Ji-hwan will reportedly deliver an engaging performance as a character called Moo-deok. Moo-deok is a figure possessing the head of a fox, the tongue of a snake, and the appetite of a tiger.

The production team has yet to comment on the official cast members and Murky Water's filming reports.


Rowoon and Shin Ye-eun's K-dramas

Previously, Rowoon appeared in the romantic comedy Destined With You along with actress Jo Bo-ah which streamed on Netflix. The drama depicts the story of a lawyer and a civil servant who get entangled with each other due to their ill-fated destination.

He also led the drama The Matchmakers as a young widower who helps make matches for young couples for marriage with actress Cho Yi-hyun. Rowoon also made a brief cameo as Tae-ha in the time travel drama A Time Called You starring Ahn Hyo-seop, Jeon Yeo-been, and Kang Hoon.

Meanwhile, Shin Ye-eun gearing up for her forthcoming musical and historical tvN drama Jeong Nyeon alongside actresses like Kim Tae-ri, Ra Mi-ran, and Moon So-ri.

The drama is based on the webtoon Jeongnyeonyi, written by Seo Yi-re and illustrated by Na Mon. Shin Ye-eun will portray the character of talented young lady Heo Young-seo who is also the potential rival of Kim Tae-ri's character Yoon Jeong-nyeon.
