South Korean actor Park Jeong-min’s recent comments, regarding the second season of his upcoming fantasy action drama Newtopia, have garnered attention online. On January 7, 2025, a press conference was held ahead of the release of the series, where the cast members Park Jeong-min, BLACKPINK's Jisoo, and director Yoon Sung-hyun addressed the media.

Park Jeong-min is an avid fan of the girl group BLACKPINK, and during the press conference, he shared his experience of working with Jisoo in Newtopia. He further revealed his wish for a second season so they could share the screen again.

He said,

"We met again quite later, but you know how you hear things through others. Every time I heard about Jisoo’s filming experiences, I couldn’t help but feel concerned...”

He further teased about a second season and expressed his wish to film romantic scenes with the BLACKPINK vocalist if there were to be another season. The actor continued:

“It's a bit of a shame we didn’t get to do many romantic scenes together. I’d love another opportunity to work with her. If Newtopia does well, wouldn’t it be great to properly explore that in a Season 2 with JISOO? I’ll be looking forward to it.”

Fans were surprised to hear the actor tease a second season even before the release of Newtopia. They shared their reactions to the same on X, expressing their excitement.

“OMG season 2? Yes agad your honor!” a fan reacted.
“The drama hasn't even started yet, but he already wants s2. Arrrgrgrggr," another fan said.
“A SEASON 2 EVEN THOUGH IT HASNT AIRED YET,” a user added.

Fans showed their interest in watching Park Jeong-min and Jisoo’s chemistry on-screen in the potential season 2. However, it is yet to be confirmed by the production team whether the show will be renewed for a second season.

Park Jeong-min reveals Kim Go-eun helped him get BLACKPINK albums signed by Jisoo

On January 7, 2025, the press conference for the upcoming Coupang Play series Newtopia was held at the Conrad Seoul Hotel's Grand Ballroom in Yeouido, Seoul, South Korea. During the conference, Park Jeong-min revealed he was a huge fan of BLACKPINK and that he requested Love in the Big City actress Kim Go-eun to help him get a signed album of the band.

Park Jeong-min shared that he has a section where he places his "precious" possessions in his house, and BLACKPINK’s signed album was one of them.

He said,

“I have a place where I only put my precious things together at home. Jisoo's signed CD is at the front. I'm a huge fan of BLACKPINK and Jisoo. I asked Kim Go-eun to get my autograph. I never imagined I would be able to talk and act with Jisoo. It's such an honor.”

Notably, Kim Go-eun and Park Jeong-min appeared in the drama film titled Sunset in My Hometown, which was released in 2018. Meanwhile, Kim Go-eun is known to be friends with Jisoo, who had previously sent her a signed version of her solo single album ME following its release in 2023.

Jisoo and Park Jeong-min's upcoming zombie drama Newtopia is scheduled to be released on February 7, 2025, on Coupang Play and Amazon Prime Video.
