Playlist Studio has announced the cast for Secret Relationship, its first boys’ love (BL) drama, created in partnership with Kakao, Entertainment, and Japan's Fuji Television, as reported by Naver on November 8, 2024.

Secret Relationship is adapted from a popular Kakao Webtoon, which has amassed over 170 million views worldwide. The production team is led by director Yang Kyung-hee, known for her work on BL dramas like When Your Temperature Touches My Fingertips. Meanwhile, writers Jung So-yoon and Lee Yoo-jin are collaborating on the script.

WEi’s Kim Jun-Seo is set to make his lead role debut as Da-On, with Cha Sun-Hyung as Sung-Hyun, Cha Jung-Woo as Soo-Hyun, and Kim Ho-Young as Jae-Min. Secret Relationship is set to begin filming in September and is expected to premiere in the first quarter of 2025.

Secret Relationship: Plot and cast

Secret Relationship is a BL drama that follows the story of Da-on, a determined, resourceful young man from a poor background, and his complicated relationships with his co-workers. Struggling to balance growing feelings for both his former tutor Jae-min and his antagonistic colleague Sung-hyun, Da-on faces a turbulent journey filled with unspoken emotions and hidden secrets.

Confirmed for the main cast are WEi’s Kim Jun-seo as Da-on, Cha Sun-hyung as Sung-hyun, Cha Jung-woo as Soo-hyun, and Kim Ho-young as Jae-min.


More about the cast

Kim Jun-seo, also known by his stage name Junseo, is a South Korean singer-songwriter and rapper under OUI Entertainment. He is the lead dancer, vocalist, and youngest member of the group WEi. Previously, he was part of the project group 1THE9 after competing in Under Nineteen, where he finished ninth and earned a spot in the group.

Junseo first debuted with 1THE9, releasing a mini album before the group disbanded. Later, he re-debuted with WEi, launching their first mini album, Identity: First Sight.

Kim Ho-young is a South Korean actor and television personality known for his work in musical theater and unique roles. Since his debut in the musical Rent, he has appeared in productions like Aida, Gambler, Kingdom of the Winds, Hairspray, Zanna, Don't!, Queen Seondeok, and The Two Gentlemen of Verona. In addition to musicals, he has acted in plays such as Yi, Agarwood, and Piaf.

Known for portraying feminine and cross-dressing roles, Kim has earned a reputation as a "specialized cross-dressing actor," particularly recognized for roles like the gay character Angel in Rent, the showgirl Jiji in Gambler, and Gong-gil in Yi.
