On June 11, 2024, BigHit Music released an official statement ahead of BTS member Jin's military discharge day. In the announcement, the agency revealed that the idol was soon to complete his active service in the army. The agency stated:

"We are excited to bring you the news of Jin's upcoming military discharge. Jin is close to completing his active service in the army and will soon be discharged."

Bighit Music further elaborated that the discharge day was reserved for military personnel only, and no special events were planned on that day. The agency requested fandom to refrain from visiting the site to avoid any unfortunate accidents that might arise from overcrowding.

Soon, BigHit Music's statement went viral on social media, and the ARMYs became emotional. They have been waiting for such a statement from the agency for eighteen months since the idol began his mandatory conscription on December 13, 2022. Naturally, one X user tweeted:

"Seokjin is coming back."

Netizens expressed their pride in BTS member as he was about to conclude his mandatory military service, and others stated that after a long time, the 'This is BigHit Music' statement did not bring them anxiety or saddened them. Here are some X reactions to the statement:

"Remember we had anxiety experiments whenever they drop "Hello this is bighit" because we know the news is gonna be about the boys military enlistment news. Now its different. We are having boys' military discharge news," a fan wrote.
"Finally..i still remember how was i broken when they dropped military enlightenment news...and now I'm crying coz he is back... please bring back my other boys toooo," one fan shared.
"Mr. Jin, as the oldest, u've made us proud! Congratulations, soldier! U survived & earned..the walk of going back home..Continue greatness & never forget what u've learned!" another fan mentioned.

Meanwhile, others cited the last eighteen months of struggle faced by the fandom while longing for their idol's presence.

"That's amazing! I've been waiting for news like this. Two years is a long time to go without a sighting, but it looks like Bigfoot has finally given us a sign of life. I'm both relieved and excited to see what comes next. Maybe we'll get some clearer footage or even a live encoun," a user mentioned.

BTS' Jin to attend in-person event FESTA following his discharge from mandatory military service

On June 6, 2024, Bighit Music announced that the Moon singer would organize an in-person event to celebrate the group's eleventh anniversary, FESTA. The event has been organized to complete the idol's wish to spend time with ARMY in person on the group's debut date. It will be held on June 13, 2024, at Jamsil Arena in Jamsil Sports Complex, Songpa-gu, Seoul, South Korea.

The event will be held in two sessions:

  1. Jin's Greetings/Meet-and-Greet with Jin
  2. Message from Jin: June 13, 2024

According to Bighit Music, the first meet-and-greet session with the idol would be about:

"The first session (Meet-and-Greet) is a time for light hugs with Jin per request from the artist and is expected to last about three hours. If you win the raffle but do not wish for a hug, you can replace it with a handshake. Every precautionary measure will be put in place to ensure no unpleasant incidents occur during the event. We ask for your kind cooperation."

Meanwhile, the second session would feature the idol delivering performances that the ARMYs wish to see and is expected to last an hour. While the first session would not be live streamed, the second part would be available for a live broadcast exclusively on Weverse for ARMY MEMBERSHIP (GL, JP, and US) holders.


BTS member is scheduled to be discharged from mandatory conscription on June 12, 2024.
