On Friday, June 28, K-pop phenomenon SEVENTEEN lit up the Glastonbury Festival stage with their first-ever performance at the event. By doing so, they also became the first K-pop group to headline the festival on the main stage. Their performance was much anticipated by fans (CARATs) worldwide as Glastonbury Festival is the world's largest greenfield music and performing arts festival, setting a precedent for all the festivals that have followed it.

The Festival which is slated to run from June 26 to 30, will see a star-studded roster of performers on its various stages. SEVENTEEN took up the Pyramid Stage on this day. Other names sharing the same stage include Dua Lipa, LCD Soundsystem, PJ Harvey, Paul Heaton, Olivia Dean, and Squeeze. The 13-member group also made their Europe debut performance with this event.

Some highlights from SEVENTEEN's power-packed performance at the 2024 Glastonbury Festival

The Glastonbury Festival is taking place in Pilton, Somerset, England, which is reputed for drawing millions of fans every year, attracted a huge throng of music lovers on June 28. The Super artists were decked up in black outfits and brought along a live band for their memorable stage. Their show took place from 2:25 PM to 3:45 PM BST for an hour-long set.

The performance commenced with Woozi playing the keyboard amidst loud cheers from the crowd leading to the intro with the group's latest lead single Maestro. The audience was seen swaying to the group's music, including their hearty cheers during SOS and the vocal unit's performance of Cheers to youth. Meanwhile, SOS was rendered live on stage for the first time with a bang as lyrics to the full-English song were displayed on the screen behind.

At the same time, the hype was also felt during the performance of HOT, where the festival attendees joined in on the "Hot" chant with the group's member Hoshi. Seungkwan and leader S.Coups were also seen engaging actively with the concertgoers as the latter asked the audience mid-performance,

"Have you heard of SEVENTEEN before? So many members, right?"

In a humorous turn of events, a fan who brought along band member Dino's Pi Cheolin character flag went viral, as they were seen waving it at the venue.

The PLEDIS Entertainment boy band also performed at the NISSAN Stadium in Yokohama, Japan in May for the very first time, for their FOLLOW AGAIN tour. This made them the second K-pop group to fill the largest concert venue in Japan. Their headlining the biggest celebration of music in the UK with Glastonbury Festival adds another feat under their belt.

At the same time, viewers were able to witness the historic performance in 4K through the online service BBC iPlayer. The streaming platform will also broadcast all live streams from the five main final stages over the weekend.

Meanwhile, other artists lined up for the Glastonbury Festival 2024 include Coldplay, SZA, Shania Twain, Camila Cabello, and many more.


SEVENTEEN appointed UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth

The Face the Sun band was recently appointed as the UNESCO Goodwill Ambassador for Youth on June 26, 2024, at UNESCO's headquarters in Paris. During the honorary appointment ceremony, band member Joshua delivered an acceptance speech, marking SEVENTEEN as the first-ever to be appointed to this prestigious role.

In other news, fans can look forward to the group taking the stage at Lollapalooza in Berlin, from September 7 to 8 of this year.
