Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin, who co-star in the upcoming drama The Trunk, appeared on the YouTube talk show Just an Excuse, hosted by Yoo Jae-suk, in an episode that aired on November 9. In the talk show, Gong Yoo disclosed the gift he received from Seo Hyun-jin on his birthday.

“She gave me ginseng liquor as a birthday present for my birthday,” Gong Yoo said.

The two spoke about their experience in the drama, scheduled to be released on November 29.

Gong Yoo and Seo Hyun-jin share their experience

Seo Hyun-jin shared that Gong Yoo had booked them both on Pinggyego, a show hosted by Jae-suk, so she jokingly suggested that Gong Yoo attend the Pinggyego end-of-year awards. However, when he mentioned being busy that day, Seo Hyun-jin teased him, questioning how he could not make time for Pinggyego, playfully remarking on his apparent lack of attachment.

During the show, Yoo Jae-suk teased Gong Yoo about having eight mobile games on his phone. The latter explained that he initially downloaded an English-learning app that required watching advertisements, which led him to start playing games after being repeatedly targeted by these ads. Although he eventually grew tired of them, the cycle continued, leaving him with eight games, which he has since stopped playing.

The Trunk: Trailer, plot, cast, and more

The Netflix drama The Trunk is set for its premiere on November 29. The teaser highlights Hyun-jin and Yoo’s first meeting, with Han Jeong-won reluctantly agreeing to the contract. It also hints at tension involving his mysterious ex-wife, Lee Seo-yeon (Jung Yun-ha), who appears to have a hidden agenda.

Based on a novel, the series follows Noh In-ji, played by Seo Hyun-jin, an employee at a secretive marriage service who enters a “contract marriage” each year. Despite her job, she feels deeply alone. The story centers around her latest contract husband, Han Jeong-won, portrayed by Gong Yoo, who joins the service to cope with his failed marriage.

Gong Yoo, a prominent South Korean actor, is celebrated for his roles in popular television dramas and films. He gained widespread recognition through Coffee Prince and Guardian: The Lonely and Great God.

Apart from The Trunk, he will also appear in season 2 of Squid Game, which is set to premiere on December 26. The teaser for Squid Game’s second season recently showed his character interacting with character Gi-hun in a restaurant and inviting viewers to “play a game.”

According to The Statesman, Seo Hyun-jin is currently in discussions to star in a new drama adaptation, Love Me, alongside Chang-Ryul and TWICE’s Dahyun. She is reportedly being considered for the role of Seo Joon-kyung, a seemingly flawless doctor in Obstetrics and Gynecology.
