A person has reportedly filed a petition at the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee calling for perjury charges against current ADOR CEO Kim Joo-young. On November 12, Sport Kyunghyang published a report regarding a petitioner A, who has accused the ADOR CEO of perjury and alleged that she was an eyewitness of the controversial HYBE internal document.

On October 15, Kim Joo-young appeared at the National Assembly audit as a witness from HYBE’s side for the NewJeans Hani bullying incident. In the petition filed at the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee, Mr. A quoted the CEO’s words and responses at the audit and accused her of turning a blind eye to the internal document.

He stated that the ADOR CEO made false statements regarding protecting the human rights of the artists while allegedly brushing aside the contents of the document.

Petitioner A said:

“In the end, since witness Kim Joo-young was aware of the existence of the ‘Weekly Music Industry Report’ document itself but ignored it, her response during the state audit that she was making efforts to ‘prevent human rights violations’ while mentioning the ‘code of conduct that respects’ may amount to ‘perjury,’ so she must be held strictly accountable.”

On November 12, Mr. A filed a petition at the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee urging them to press charges against Kim Joo-young for perjury. He stated that the ADOR CEO Kim Joo-young made a false statement about protecting the artists NewJeans from mistreatment at work at the National Assembly audit.

Mr. A stated that she was one of the recipients of the controversial internal document which reportedly had harsh and malicious comments on K-pop groups and artists from other companies.

Previously, the CEO stated that HYBE takes measures based on the ‘Code of Respectful Conduct’, and follows certain laws to preserve the rights of their artists at the audit. She stated that the company also takes prompt action against violations so that it does not repeat.

Mr. A, regarding her statement at the audit, stated:

“CEO (who appeared as a witness at the state audit on the 15th of last month) emphasized twice that ‘based on the ‘Code of Respectful Conduct,’ we regularly provide internal guideline training in order to internalize an organizational culture of respect and collaboration between artists and members.”

He further added:

“To the question, ‘Is HYBE complying with various laws and regulations to respect human rights, operating a channel to report human rights violations, and working to quickly process and prevent recurrence of reported cases? ’, she stated her position as ‘yes. ’”

Mr. A has urged the National Assembly Environment and Labor Committee to hold the ADOR CEO accountable for her alleged failure to protect the artists.

In other news, during the National Assembly audit on October 15, Kim Joo-young received criticism from Progressive Party representative Jeong Hye-kyung as an alleged workplace death incident that took place in 2022 was unveiled at the audit.

The company was accused of hiding the workplace death incident from the Health and Welfare Committee, but the ADOR CEO denied the allegations.

Meanwhile, Kim Joo-young was appointed as the CEO of ADOR, a subsidiary label of HYBE on August 27, 2024, as a replacement of previous CEO Min Hee-jin. She previously held the position of Chief Human Resources Officer.
