An audio clip of American singer-songwriter Halsey is going viral on social media, where she voices her excitement to see BLACKPINK's Lisa at the upcoming 2024 MTV Video Music Awards. The brief audio segment is extracted from a recent radio interview where Halsey was asked who she was most excited to see on stage at the VMAs.
The Ego singer went on to name several artists she could not wait to see take the stage, and one of them was Lisa. The singer further expressed how Lisa is an "entertaining performer," and she admires watching her with BLACKPINK.
She said,
"I think Lisa's performing, I'm really excited about that. I think she's such an entertaining performer; I love watching her with BLACKPINK. I think she's so fun, she's so cute. She always looks like she's having the best time ever on stage, and watching her makes you want to go up there and have fun with her too. Maybe I'll crash the stage."
The 2024 MTV Video Music Awards is set to be held on Wednesday, September 11, at 20:00 ET/17:00 PT at Long Island's UBS Arena in New York. The VMAs are held annually and organized by MTV to honor the best in the music video industry. It recognizes artists, directors, and others involved in creating music videos.
The show is known for its electrifying live performances every year, and this year is no different, with an exciting roster of artists forming the lineup. Fans can expect to see names like BLACKPINK's Lisa, LE SSERAFIM, Megan Thee Stallion, Sabrina Carpenter, Halsey, Katy Perry, Shawn Mendes, Lenny Kravitz, and more at the event. Serena Page and Kordell Beckham will be presenting the award show.
BLACKPINK's Lisa's preparations ahead of her performance at the 2024 MTV VMAs
The Rockstar artist's win at the 2022 MTV VMAs has been engraved in the minds of her fans. The idol became the first K-pop soloist in history to win an award at the VMAs, as she took home Best K-pop for the title track LALISA from her titular debut single album released in 2021.
On August 22, Lisa's independent label, LLOUD, announced her live performance at the 2024 VMAs, quickly garnering much anticipation for her appearance.
Additionally, her recent solo hit single Rockstar has been nominated under four categories at the event this year, namely, BEST K-POP, BEST EDITING, BEST CHOREOGRAPHY, and BEST ART DIRECTION. This also made her the most-nominated K-pop artist this year.
The BLACKPINK member is the only K-pop artist other than LE SSERAFIM to perform at the VMAs this year. Meanwhile, she has been working hard in the run-up to the event, as is also evident from her recent rehearsal updates on her socials.
On September 8, the 27-year-old shared a quick post on her Instagram story, writing, "4 more days till vmas." In the snap, her sneakers along with the number 24 painted on the floor could be seen, which was apparently from a rehearsal day for the upcoming performance.
On September 10, she even posted a sneak peek from her rehearsals on her Instagram story, seemingly a TikTok upload, where along with her crew she was exuding her signature confidence while Rockstar played in the background. She was seen donning a T-shirt with the song's lyrics "baby i'm a rockstar" printed across the front while wearing Beyoncé’s ‘Renaissance World Tour’ hat.
Notably, she is set to become the first K-pop soloist in history to perform at the VMAs. This follows her 2022 performance with BLACKPINK, where the quartet made history as the first-ever female K-pop group to perform on the program with their song Pink Venom.
Recent updates on BLACKPINK's Lisa
In other news, after she departed from her long-term agency YG Entertainment, Lisa established her own label, LLOUD, on February 8, 2024. As her first release under her independent agency and RCA Records, Lisa delivered a smashing hit with Rockstar on June 27 this year.
She also collaborated with Spanish singer-songwriter Rosalía on her latest track, New Woman, which came out on August 15. The BLACKPINK member is also set to make her acting debut soon, as she recently wrapped up filming for The White Lotus Season 3.
Meanwhile, on September 9, she also appeared on four covers for Vogue Korea x Louis Vuitton's October 2024 issue, after being named the French luxury fashion brand's House Ambassador in July.
