On Monday, August 12, SEVENTEEN's Seungkwan made an Instagram post about his recent partnership with CASS, a South Korean beer company. Recently, SEVENTEEN's BSS was chosen as the summer digital campaign model, and CASS also stands as one of the partners of the 2024 Paris Olympics. Therefore, the idol's post was made to promote the brand.

While the post caption cheered the Paris Olympic athletes and promoted the brand, CASS, the idol also left a warning for the post as a comment under his post. Here's what the warning read:

"Warning: Excessive drinking can lead to stroke, memory impairment, or dementia. Alcohol consumption during pregnancy increases the risk of birth defects. Whatever it is, do it in moderation."

Though warnings for alcohol-related posts usually come with warnings, some fans of BTS immediately linked this with SUGA's recent DUI incident. Many netizens felt that the idol was mocking SUGA for drinking and driving an electric scooter under the influence. Therefore, the idol began to receive several hate comments from some BTS fans.

However, SEVENTEEN's fans were soon angered by this incident since several of these hate comments were directed towards Seungkwan's pinned post dedicated to his late friend, ASTRO's Moonbin. Many of these comments allegedly mocked Moonbin's death and expressed hate towards the deceased K-pop idol.

The continued hate eventually made the idol unpin the post. This made many fans angry as they felt that the hate was unnecessary. Additionally, they also expressed that hating on Seungkwan's post from ASTRO's Moonbin was extreme and heartless. Here's how CARATs (SEVENTEEN's Fandom) reacted to the hate:

"Armys are actually sick in the head. going on seungkwan’s ig to mock moonbin’s death in his comments is the sickest and vilest thing they could do rn."
"To make seungkwan unpin his post dedicated to his best friend who passed away because you don't have enough humanity to leave something so personal out of your little stupid fanwars is disgusting." - said a fan on X
"The sh*t that fandom does with no repercussions is sickening. they know exactly how bad that fandom gets & still no one says a word to them but yet they can harass other idols for the hell of it? i wish them all hell" - said a netizen on X

More netizens expressed how certain BTS fans' response to the idol's post about alcohol was too extreme and uncalled for.

"How far can someone sink? These people need serious help" - said a netizen on X
"This is really heartbreaking .....like you have to be a monster to do things like these!!" - added a netizen on X
"Army have 0 morals, 0 empathy or any grasp of reality and the weight their words and actions hold i am really so disgusted by everything" - stated another fan on X

All you need to know about SEVENTEEN's Seungkwan and SUGA's DUI Incident

SEVENTEEN's Seungkwan, otherwise known as Boo Seung-kwan, is a 26-year-old South Korean singer and entertainment housed under Pledis Entertainment, a subsidiary agency of HYBE Labels. The idol debuted with his fellow SEVENTEEN members in 2015, and both he and the group are famous artists in the K-pop industry.

SEVENTEEN holds several hit tracks that continued to dominate the internet to date. Some of them include HOT, Pretty U, Adore U, Rock With You, etc. Seungkwan, on the other hand, is an established vocalist in the industry, known for his impressive and sustainable high notes. He's also part of the group's sub-unit, SEVENTEEN's BSS, which holds the other two group members, DK and Hoshi.

On the other hand, SUGA, the rapper of the seven-piece K-pop boy group BTS, was recently charged with DUI. On August 7, CCTV footage of the idol riding an electric scooter after having drinks was released on the internet. SUGA explained that no one got hurt during the incident. A police officer saw the idol fall from the scooter in front of the house and therefore charged him with DUI.

The idol paid a fine and his license was revoked. While police and the idol have settled the incident, fans' reactions have still been surfacing on the internet.
