On Friday, May 17, 2024, the South Korean animated character Pengsoo visited SM Entertainment. Pengsoo's official YouTube channel, @giantpengsoo, uploaded a vlog about the visit. Towards the end of the vlog, the animated character interviewed one of the staff members at the entertainment agency.
The interview surrounded the debut of the agency's upcoming girl group. Earlier this year, SM Entertainment released an announcement stating that their latest K-pop girl group will debut sometime this year. Initially, the group was planned to debut back in 2023. However, due to several delays, the debut was postponed, and are now expected to debut officially in 2024.
The announcement that initially revealed the group's upcoming debut also mentioned the group as RIIZE's younger sister, and this is a tradition of SM Entertainment when debuting a new group. Therefore, the recent interview of an SM Entertainment staff with Pengsoo was exciting for netizens. Pengsoo, the animated character, asked the staff member if it was true that they'd be debuting a girl group this year, and the staff replied affirmatively. Next, Pensgoo inquired about the number of members in the group.
Pengsoo guessed that there would be five to six members. The staff expressed they were still deciding on the number, but it would mostly be around that number.
