BTS' Kim Seok-jin released Super Tuna (Extended Version) on October 11, 2024. The track was originally released in December 2021 by the Grammy-nominated artist. However, the latest extended version packs an all-new music video built on the older version with additional hilarious elements.
Jin performed the track's new extended version on June 13, 2024, when he held his first-ever in-person solo fan meeting at Jamsil Arena. A day after his military discharge, he hosted the event to celebrate BTS' 11th anniversary with 4,000 selected ARMYs. The song discusses fishing seafood like mackerel, shark, or flatfish—especially the idol's favorite tuna fish.
The new video also showed the BTS idol carrying a tuna fish plushie as he hugs it and runs on a beach. The MV showcased the idol singing about searching for fish in the sea and would do anything to catch some fish. The lyrics are endearing yet funny and the visuals mimicked several popular memes.
Social media became a meme-fest as the new special video was released. Fans flooded X (formerly Twitter) with their hilarious take on the new video, where one fan commented:
"Also the high note part in the last...like the roaring part....it was so ARMY edit coded"
The BTS ARMY noted several hilarious details in the special video such as the artist proposing a tuna fish with a fishing hook inside a ring box. They also highlighted how the BTS idol recreated the "screaming cat in a cowboy hat" meme.
"NOT SEOKJIN PROPOSING TO THE TUNA AND IT SAID “YES… HYUNG”" one fan wrote.
"The way he was bLUBBERING TO COMMUNICATE WITH THE TUNA seokjin you are so unserious," another fan added.
"Jin recreating screaming cowboy meme in his Super Tuna special video is the most unserious thing you’ll ever see today," another fan said.
Others mentioned how the Epiphany singer-songwriter re-recorded his old song and released it with a new "art" just to cheer his fans.

BTS' Jin continues to cheer fans with reality show appearances
The 2021 original Super Tuna track, which was a little over one minute long and released on December 4, 2021, on the BTS idol's birthday. It amassed over 135 million streams on Spotify as of October 10, 2024. Furthermore, the artist wrote this song as a practical joke about his favorite hobby, fishing.
Meanwhile, he served in the military from December 2022 to June 2024 to fulfill his mandatory service. After his discharge, he has been working on his solo music, and the album is set to be released by the end of 2024. Aside from being the global ambassador for luxury brands like Gucci, FRED, and the skincare brand, LANEIGE, he has been filming several reality shows.
He was featured as a guest on MBC's popular reality show, Half-star Hotel in Lost Island, in episodes 15 and 16. He also featured as a special guest in the Japanese show, I Love Everyone's Zoo and wrapped up filming for Netflix's Korean reality show, Kian's Bizzare B&B. Additionally, he released his show, RUN JIN, on August 13, which releases new episodes every Tuesday on BANGTANTV (YouTube).
In other news, BTS' j-hope is set to be discharged from the military on October 17, 2024. Earlier, Jin went on Weverse Live on September 21 and joked about kidnapping j-hope on his discharge day to feature him as a guest in RUN JIN.
