Fans of BTS' Taehyung, also known as V, were thrilled to learn that the idol made a special appearance at a Compose Coffee branch hosting a fan-organized birthday celebration in his honor. Despite being in the midst of his mandatory military service, Taehyung took the time to visit the event celebrating his 29th birthday on December 30, 2024.

A fan account on X, @KTH_Supporters, shared a screenshot from a staff member at the Compose Coffee branch. It suggests that Taehyung picked up refreshments for himself and his unit members. According to the barista, Taehyung personally collected 50 sets of coffee and krungji (Korean snack) for his unit, expressing heartfelt thanks to the fans for their thoughtful birthday project.

More about BTS' Taehyung's birthday projects amid his military service

The birthday celebration was part of "Taecember," a series of projects organized by his dedicated fanbases. Taking place near his military base, the event offered free coffee and desserts exclusively to soldiers for five days. Known as the ambassador for Compose Coffee, V visited the coffee branch, even while enlisted.

This gesture was made possible by the efforts of fan groups, including KTH Supporters, who decorated the café with images of Taehyung and birthday-themed decorations, transforming the venue into a festive tribute.

Unfortunately, this year, his birthday coincided with a somber period for South Korea as the country entered a seven-day mourning period. This followed the devastating Jeju Airplane crash on December 29, which claimed 179 lives, leaving the nation in shock and grief.

In light of this tragedy, HYBE, the label representing BTS, announced that it would refrain from posting any content related to member V’s birthday celebrations. The decision reflects a gesture of solidarity and respect for the victims and their families during this period of national mourning. The statement from HYBE read,

"We express our deepest condolences to the victims who lost their lives in the recent aviation accident and to their loved ones. We would like to inform you that V’s birthday content, originally scheduled to be released today on December 30th, 2024 (KST) will not take place today. We ask for your generous understanding."

The BTS vocalist is expected to finish his military service by June 2025.
