HYBE announced the BTS x MU:DS Dalmajung collection in collaboration with the National Museum of Korean Cultural Foundation, in addition to some elegant jewelry. On October 5, HYBE dropped a teaser of the Dalmajung collection to commemorate the Hangul Day in 2024.
The agency showcased minimalist earrings, neckpieces, a traditionally designed key, and a BTS logo-styled two-piece ring. This partnership with the National Museum of Korean Cultural Foundation will mark its third edition this year. As per Nongmin, there will be 14 merchandise in total, of which 6 are reportedly inspired by National Treasures.
All merchandise will announced officially on October 7, 2024, at 12 pm KST, and can be purchased from October 8, 2024, at 11 am KST. The teaser dropped by HYBE garnered attention from fans online. They showcased interest in buying the merchandise, particularly the BTS logo ring. They took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their opinion on the upcoming BTS x MU:DS collection.
"THESE ARE SO PRETTY. Someone buy me the ring," a fan said.
"As much as this merch is catering to me being an adult wanting home decor and jewelry with BTS’ logo and lyrics on it… I also have to practice the adult skill of financial responsibility and self-control," a fan added.
"Everything is so beautiful but the jewelry has captured my eye. However it always sells out before I even have a chance," a user stated.
Netizens mentioned that the two-piece ring can be worn in two ways: one will display the BTS logo, and the other will show the ARMY symbol.
"THE RING COMES AS TWO PIECES OMG WHICH MEANS YOU CAN WEAR IT AS EITHER BTS LOGO OR THE ARMY LOGO," a fan commented.
"How beautiful these are coz if you wear them other way around it will become ARMYs symbol,"another fan commented.
"I’m usually not a fan of dainty jewellery bc I feel like it doesn’t suit me aesthetically but these are SO FREAKING PRETTYYYY do they accept photocards as a payment method though? Asking for a broke friend. Me. I’m that broke friend."- a user stated.
A netizen explained the traditional meaning behind the two-piece rings and their significance to married couples.
"Garakji were reserved only for married women. They symbolized the harmony between husband & wife. When the husband died, one ring would be buried w him, the wife kept the other until she die, symbolizing faithfulness," a user wrote.
"I DO, NOW AND FOREVER! TO INFINITY AND BEYOND. ETERNALLY YOURS, Bangtan," a fan said.
"The couples rings and the jewelry are beautiful and I'm also eyeballing the flute and cup. Also the norigae," a fan said.
