Source Music, agency of LE SSERAFIM, has reportedly filed a legal complaint against ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin for her claims that caused the girl group damages. On Monday, July 15, Sports Seoul, a South Korean media agency, reported that HYBE LABELS’ subsidiary agency, Source Music, sued Min Hee-jin for defamation.

According to the reports, Source Music filed a complaint based on three issues:

  • Min Hee-jin's claim that she personally cast all the members of NewJeans.
  • Another claim by the ADOR CEO is that Source Music HYBE did not keep their word to debut NewJeans as their first girl group.
  • Lastly, Min Hee-jin also claimed that Source Music neglected NewJeans members.

Due to her claims, Source Music stated that LE SSERAFIM faced a lot of backlash online for receiving special treatment, which, according to them, is not true. Furthermore, they stated that the Smart singers became the subject of malicious and hateful posts and comments.

Source Music has reportedly submitted evidence at the Seoul Western District Court to support their claims. They statedly added evidence that the debut of NewJeans was delayed and pushed after LE SSERAFIM due to Min Hee-jin’s preparations for building the brand.

Source Music has also reportedly claimed that ADOR and Min Hee-jin had acknowledged LE SSERAFIM's debut as the first girl group of HYBE.

Source Music reportedly demands 500 million KRW from ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin for damages that occurred to LE SSERAFIM

According to Sports Seoul, Source Music filed legal action against ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin on July 15 at the Seoul Western District Court. The agency has demanded over 500 million KRW (approximately 361.5K USD) on charges of defamation, insulting remarks, and obstruction of business.

Since the amount has been considered following the damages Source Music has faced, it is reported to increase in the future. The agency is reportedly taking action due to the claims Min Hee-jin had previously made during her emergency press conference in April 2024.

Later on July 15, Source Music confirmed to Ten Asia about the lawsuit. They stated,

“It is true that we have filed a lawsuit for damages against Adore CEO Min Hee-jin.”

According to Sports Seoul, Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency Commissioner General George Ho addressed Source Music's legal complaint against Min Hee-jin at the Jongno-gu office building in Seoul. During the press conference on July 15, he stated,

“We were not able to confirm everything that was needed in the investigation of CEO Min. It seems that additional investigation is necessary.”
