Source Music is ready to take strict legal action against malicious comments about LE SSERAFIM
Source Music released a formal statement, keeping fans up to date on the legal actions being taken against online bad behavior that attacks LE SSERAFIM.
As a first step, Source Music expressed an apology for the recent happenings that may have disturbed LE SSERAFIM's ardent fan base. Following that, they emphasized the steps they will take to address the threatening remarks. The text is as follows:
“We have announced plans to intensify legal actions as indiscriminate and malicious postings targeting LE SSERAFIM have become excessive.”
It continues as,
“Therefore, we moved up our 2024 semi-annual notice to keep our fans informed about the legal proceedings and subsequent actions. We apologize for the delay in sharing the status of these proceedings, which was due to the preparation of numerous legal complaints and the collection of evidence.”
Also, Source Music underlined their efforts through working with both local and international law firms.
“Our company undertakes comprehensive evidence collection related to the artist for malicious postings across various platforms, including domestic and overseas social media accounts and online communities. We have also obtained evidence through reports from fans and by employing all available professional methods, including assistance from domestic and foreign law firms.”
The agency stated they had gathered a lot of different posts and comments to make an official complaint to the people in charge of investigations. The statement also mentioned charges that will be pressed against these malicious statements.
“The charges include contempt, defamation under the Information and Communications Network Act, and digital sex crimes as stipulated by Article 13 (Obscene Acts by Using Means of Communication) under the Act on Special Cases concerning the Punishment, stc. of Sexual Crimes. They are also collecting evidences subsequent to these filings.”
All types of harsh criticism, spreading false information, personal attacks, insults, sarcasm, and foul language are included under the lawsuit. Portal sites and online groups like Naver, Nate Pann, theqoo, Dcinside, instiz, and ilbe, as well as social media sites, can be charged for posts and comments they feature.
Also, a formal report has been sent to the authorities in charge of investigations against the people who make and moderate harmful posts and comments on international platforms.
Those responsible for writing hate speech in online forums were the subject of a thorough inquiry. These criminal law punishments have included fines of up to two million KRW for the defendants. The agency's policy has always been that they will not settle for less than the maximum punishment for perpetrators.
Earlier on April 26, Source Music announced that they would actively pursue legal action against the malicious post, propagation of false information, and defamation of the K-pop girl group. They revealed that the female group has been receiving online abuse and contempt. Following this, they closed their comment sections on Instagram and YouTube.
