On October 1, 2024, iQIYI revealed the full list of 69 male trainees from Korea, Japan, Thailand, and China for their new survival show, Starlight Boys. These trainees will compete for a spot in the Top 9. The show, set to premiere by the end of October 2024, will be hosted by South Korean actress Lee Sung-kyung and feature celebrity coaches to guide the contestants in singing, rapping, and dancing.
These mentors include BIGBANG's Daesung, THE BOYZ's Eric, rapper Hanhae, singers Lee Seung-gi and Kwon Eunbi, STAYC's Yoon, choreographer Choi Young-jun, and PENTAGON member Hui. Additionally, iQIYI collaborated with the South Korean broadcasting company SBS to produce the upcoming talent show.

Starlight Boys posted the competition's full roster of trainees on its official X account on October 1. The list also includes two Malaysian participants—Kingston Wong and Ivan Chen—who are increasing fans' anticipation. The roster also includes Singaporean actor Yang Yan, Thai singer Kad, and Thai actor Pentor.
Alongside them are competitors from the US, Thailand, Japan, South Korea, China, and Malaysia. Furthermore, Starlight Boys also have Lee Da-eul, a previous participant on Boys Planet, and Yang Dong-hwa, a former ATBO member.
Heavyweights like veterans of the Chinese idol program Youth With You—Duan Xingxing, Sun Yinghao, and Neil Liu—have also joined the show as participants.
