SEVENTEEN’s Jeonghan is set to enlist in the military in the last week of September 2024. On September 12, PLEDIS Entertainment announced the official date of Jeonghan's enlistment on Weverse which is Thursday, September 26, 2024.

Previously, the agency confirmed that the 95-liner member of the boy group will enlist in the military to fulfill his national duties in the second half of 2024. Due to this, he would not be able to participate in the upcoming 12th mini-album promotional activities.

However the Last Night singer will appear in several pre-recorded content filmed for the fans. In the official statement on Weverse, the agency stated:

"We wish to share the news of JEONGHAN’s upcoming enlistment into the military, scheduled for September 26, 2024.

They added that no special event will be held on the day of the SEVENTEEN member's enlistment. They further requested fans to avoid visiting the enlisting site. This news has left many Carats (SEVENTEEN's fandom) heartbroken. They took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their emotions.

“STOP THE TIME,” one fan said.
“Announcing jeonghan's military enlistment date hours after posting svt being loving, giggly and having the time of their lives together is just cruel,” another fan said.
“I AM CRYING. WHAT DO YOU MEAN JEONGHAN IS ENLISTING IN LESS THAN TWO WEEKS?!?!” one X user wrote.

Netizens referred to the video featuring all 13 members of the boy group shared on their official Instagram page a day before Jeonghan’s military enlistment announcement.

“They rly said here’s some ot13 content to remind yall how much svt loves svt so they can drop a *bomb emoticon* right after,” one fan commented.
“just after last night's overflowing emotion through their dinner. whyyy pledis? can u guys atleast give us time to breathe? i thought the enlistment announcement is only editeeeed. but daaaaamn no! im cryin rn,” another fan commented.
“So that's it, it was a goodbye from Jeonghan in this video for a while..... Not just for us, but for the members too..... I'm not well, there is already a date to take our Hannie from us Carats by Almost 2 years,” one netizen said.

Netizens wished the SEVENTEEN's vocalist well and stated they would wait for his return.

“Serve well, yoon jeonghan. carats will always be waiting for you,” one fan said.
“We’ll wait for you, jeonghan. come back safely!!” another fan commented.
“"You’re supposed to wait endlessly for people you like.” we will wait for your return, jeonghan!” another fan added.

SEVENTEEN wins Best Group award at the 2024 MTV Video Music Awards

On September 11, 2024, MTV Video Music Awards announced the winners of the Best Group category through their official X page. SEVENTEEN received the maximum number of votes and was confirmed to be the winner in the Best Group category.

The group responded to the announcement through X, stating:

“We’re so honored to win the Best Group award at the 2024 #VMAs. Thank you CARATs for all your great love and support.”

In other news, SEVENTEEN is gearing up for their upcoming 12th mini album which is scheduled to be released in October 2024. According to the agency, Jeonghan will not be engaged in the comeback activities.

Jeonghan concluded his last live performance at the 2024 Lollapalooza Berlin on September 9. He also made an appearance at SEVENTEEN's fan meeting in Beijing on September 11. As per the report by Xports on September 10, the K-pop boy group has completed the filming of the upcoming music video.

The reports suggested that all 13 members including S.Coups, Jeonghan, Joshua, Jun, Hoshi, Wonwoo, Woozi, DK, Mingyu, The8, Seungkwan, Vernon, and Dino reportedly participated in the filming of the music video. Notably, PLEDIS Entertainment has yet to respond to the reports.
