On September 12, 2024, Netflix's Arcane 2 announced via their official X account that Stray Kids will feature on the show's soundtrack line-up. The group will lend their voice to the track Come Play in collaboration with American guitarist Tom Morello, and Puerto Rican rapper Young Miko.
For the unversed, Arcane is a adult-animated steampunk action-adventure series. Season 2 is based on Riot Games' League of Legends, chronicling the origin story of the two iconic champions who are sisters. Jinx (played by Ella Purnell) and Vi (portrayed by Hailee Steinfeld) discover themselves on opposite sides of enmity during a war between utopian Piltover and Zaun.
Stray Kids express their delight over joining the line-up for the Arcane season 2 soundtrack
In a band statement, Stray Kids expressed their elation over joining the soundtrack line-up for the upcoming season 2 of Arcane. The eight-member group stated they are very "passionate," for the project. They added that their single Come Play will add a dynamic taste, accompanied by various voices and languages combined. Their statement read in part:
"We enjoy playing League, and we're excited for fans to hear this song and see the second season of Arcane!"
The other artists to be featured in the soundtrack for the show include Ashnikko, D4vd, DJERV, FEVER333, Freya Ridings, Grey, Jarina De Marco, King Princess, and Mako. A few more renowned musicians are part of the soundtrack, namely Marcus King, Misha Mansoor, Pomme, Raja Kumari Royal & The Serpent, Sheryl Lee Ralph, Stefflon Don, Stromae Tom Morelo, Twenty One Pilots Wookid, Young Miko, and Zand.
The Global Head of Music at Riot Games, Maria Egan, said that they wanted to "represent global reach" by collaborating with musicians from different cultures. Egan's statement read:
"Arcane’s groundbreaking approach to music inspired an incredibly diverse group of artists from many genres, languages, and cultures who wanted to be part of this new season."
Arcane is based on the famous multiplayer online battle arena game League of Legends, developed and released by Riot Games in 2009. The series was intially designed by creators, including Christian Linke and Alex Yee. It was produced by the French animation studio Fortiche in collaboration with Riot Games.
The upcoming season's cast line-up includes Elsa Davoine as Caitlyn, Kevin Alejandro as Jayce, Reed Shannon as Ekko, Brett Tucker as Singed, Harry Lloyd as Viktor, and others.
In recent news, Stray Kids member Changbin will be featured on ITZY's upcoming album Gold on the track VAY, as announced by the female band on September 12, 2024, through their official X account.
The female band is set to make their comeback on October 15, 2024,. They released a tracklist, including 10 songs such as title track Gold, Imaginary Friend, Bad Girls R Us, Supernatural, Five, Born to Be (Final version), Vay (feat. Stray Kids), Untouchable (final version), Mr.Vampire (final version), Escalator (final version), and Dynamite (final version).
Stray Kids dropped their ninth-mini album ATE on July 19, 2024. It featured eight tracks, including Mountains, Chk Chk Boom (title track), Jjam, I Like It, Runners, Twilight, and Chk Chk Boom (festival version).
