Stray Kids to release song for Marvel movie Deadpool & Wolverine featuring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman

Stray Kids is gearing up for their upcoming song which will be a part of the Original Soundtrack of Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman starrer Deadpool & Wolverine. On July 17, Marvel Entertainment on X unveiled the Deadpool & Wolverine soundtrack album tracklist, including the song Slash by Stray Kids.

This announcement created much excitement among the fans as they had been anticipating a song by the group for the Marvel Studios film for quite some time. Recently, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman finally met Bang Chan and Felix. Their in-person interaction took over the internet as fans waited for this after their online interactions.

All this began when Stray Kids paid homage to Deadpool through a performance on the Kingdom: Legendary War show, which gained Ryan Reynolds’ attention.

Slash with other tracks on the album is set to be released on Wednesday, July 24 which is two days before the premier of the Marvel Studios film Deadpool & Wolverine on Friday, July 26, 2024.

Fan speculations before the announcement of the upcoming Stray Kids’ soundtrack for Deadpool & Wolverine starring Ryan Reynolds

The JYP Entertainment boy group and Ryan Reynolds are popular for their online interaction and the common fans of the K-pop group and the Hollywood stars have continuously expressed their wish to see them collaborate. More specifically they wished for the God's Menu singers to sing an OST for the third part of Deadpool.

In March 2022, a STAY stated in a tweet that they wished to see Stray Kids do an OST for the film and surprisingly it was liked by Ryan Reynolds. In August 2022, the K-pop boy group showcased their interest in singing for Deadpool while expressing their love for Ryan Reynolds during an interview with TV Guide during the KCON LA music festival.

When asked which one of Stray Kids’ songs they would like to hear on Deadpool, one of the members suggested that they could write a new one.

Another rumor started when the Twitter account Miss Minutes TVA interacted with Reynolds on X (formerly Twitter) in November 2022. In the Loki series which is a part of the Marvel Cinema Universe, Miss Minutes was introduced as an A.I. tool that helps the Time Variance Authority (TVA). Loki was held accountable for his crimes at the TVA in the series.

According to The Direct's report, TVA would be a major part of the upcoming movie Deadpool & Wolverine. Later that year, Miss Minutes TVA's X account was seen asking netizens to suggest songs by the K-pop group through a tweet.

Fans soon speculated that Stray Kids might be a part of the artist lineup of Deadpool's soundtrack album, after connecting the dots that TVA would allegedly be a part of Deadpool & Wolverine.

In other news, the LALALALA singers have renewed their contract with JYP Entertainment before their exclusive contract expiration which was supposed to take place earlier in 2025.

The agency released an official statement to OSEN, stating:

“Ahead of the expiration of their exclusive contracts early next year, all members of Stray Kids, Bang Chan, Lee Know, Changbin, Hyunjin, Han, Felix, Seungmin, and I.N. have completed their contract renewal.”

They further added,

“Artist who is demonstrating the power of unrivaled music and performance in the global music market, and JYP, who has led and planned their growth, have renewed their contract with deep trust and dreamed of a lofty vision.”

Meanwhile, the boy group is set to make their comeback with the album ATE on Friday, July 19 at 1 pm KST.
