BTS' Min Yoongi aka Suga's DUI incident took a new turn after South Korean media outlet Dong-a Ilbo released the actual CCTV footage of the idol driving to his home. Meanwhile, HYBE reportedly responded to the protest where some netizens sent flower wreaths outside the company, demanding Suga's withdrawal from BTS following his DUI case.

For the unversed, on August 13, Kyunghyang Shinmun reported that several netizens sent wreaths outside HYBE and demanded the idol's removal from the group. The netizens reportedly claimed to be ARMY and said that the rapper had disappointed them. Meanwhile, BTS ARMY trended "ARMY did not send wreaths" and "Suga Stays" to debunk the netizens' claims.

On August 14, HYBE's statement was officially published by the South Korean media outlet YTN, however they later deleted it. Koreaboo reported the news and shared the screenshot from the YTN's deleted article.

"Suga leaving BTS is out of the question. We will make more apologies and work harder to resolve the conflict among fans." (translation taken from Google Translate).

Dong-a Ilbo releases the actual CCTV footage of Suga driving to his home

On August 14, 2024, Dong-a Ilbo released a clear video that showed Suga riding an electric scooter slowly on the biker's lane. The video showed footage on August 6, around 11:10 PM, when he fell down at the entrance gate of Nine One Hannam as the front wheel of his electric scooter seemingly got stuck while taking a turn.

The idol got up immediately, picked up his helmet, and put it back on his head. However, three patrolling police officers were seen walking up to him and questioning him. The video ended with Suga picking up the electric scooter and conversing with the police officers.

Furthermore, BIGHIT MUSIC (now HYBE Labels) confirmed the CCTV footage released by Dong-a Ilbo, according to the report by TV Daily.

ARMYs worldwide united on social media and demanded an apology from JTBC and Korean media outlets who allegedly "defamed" the idol for a week. They tagged JTBC News and demanded the outlet to apologize to the BTS idol for releasing fake CCTV footage on August 7. JTBC previously claimed that the blurry footage captured the idol driving an electric scooter.

However, their claims were debunked after Dong-a Ilbo released the original CCTV footage of Suga on August 14. Furthermore, the video from Dong-a Ilbo contradicts the first report from JTBC on August 7, which showed a person driving an electric scooter towards Namsan, which is on the opposite way from Nine One Hannam.

ARMYs trended "WE DEMAND AN APOLOGY," "Korean Media Be Professional," and "APOLOGIZE TO YOONGI" for allegedly harming the BTS idol's reputation with false and unverified reporting. Meanwhile, OSEN reported that JTBC have said they are confirming the authenticity of their previously released footage.

In other news, BTS' Min Yoongi enlisted in the South Korean military for alternative mandatory service on September 22, 2023. He enlisted as a social service worker due to his shoulder injury, which made him unfit to carry out regular enlistment. As per the nation's law, he will serve for 21 months instead of the regular 18 months and return in June 2025.
