Taehyung becomes the only BTS member to get ranked on Gallup Korea’s list of favorite singers among women aged 13 to 18 despite military hiatus

Gallup Survey ranks Taehyung as the only solo member of BTS

A Gallup survey is a type of public opinion poll conducted by Gallup, Inc., a global analytics and advisory company. These surveys measure public opinion on a variety of topics.

In celebration of its 50th anniversary, Korean Gallup conducted a comprehensive survey titled "50 Things Koreans Like." On June 19, 2024, the results for categories such as singers, actors, movie stars, comedians, cartoonists, and YouTubers were released.

Despite Taehyung being on a military hiatus, he has made an impressive mark by ranking among the favorite singers of teenage girls in Korea.

Taehyung stands out as the only BTS member to appear on the list of preferred singers for females aged 13 to 18. This ranking emerges from a Gallup Korea survey conducted between March 22 and April 5, 2024, involving 1,777 participants aged 13 and older from across the country, excluding Jeju. Respondents were asked to name their favorite singer freely.

Females aged 13-18 rankings went like this:

1. BTS
2. IU
3. NewJeans
4. BLACKPINK
5. V & BamBam

The survey is known for its infrequency, as it is conducted every five years, making these the first results since 2019. The method employed in this survey differs from typical Gallup polls, which usually involve choosing from a list of options.

Instead, respondents provided open-ended answers, naming only one individual or group. For instance, those who selected V had to choose him for this category. Notably, other BTS members did not appear in the favorite singer responses for any other age groups or in the 1% list.

It’s essential to distinguish this survey from Gallup Korea's annual "Person of the Year" poll, which identifies the most prominent figures of the year. This survey asked participants to name their favorite individuals in various categories, without considering whether they are currently active.

Some other names on this list are IU, NewJeans, BLACKPINK, Na Hoon-a, etc, and some prominent actors are Cha Eun-woo, Song Joong-ki, Min Nam-joong, Kim Go-eun, etc.
