BTS' Kim Taehyung aka V is known for his close friendship with the Doctor Slump actor Park Hyung-sik. In an interview with the Japanese publication Mokkan Henshu, he discussed their friendship inside the Wooga Squad. In addition to discussing his involvement in the Disney+ K-drama Soundtrack #1, the actor expressed his amazement at seeing his close friend Taehyung's swift rise to fame.

He expressed his amazement at BTS' success, delight, and appreciation for the septet's ability to transcend boundaries. Even with Taehyung's success and widespread exposure, Park Hyung-sik is confident that his friend has not changed in the slightest from the perks of celebrity.

He smiled as he reminisced about their first meeting on the set of the drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth.

"To me, Taehyung is still my cute younger brother. He hasn’t changed from when we first met. In terms of work, he is a professional, but he is usually an ordinary boy." (as reported and translated by Koreaboo)

For the unversed, South Korean celebrities Taehyung, Park Seo-joon from Itaewon Class, Choi Woo-shik from A Killer Paradox, Park Hyun-sik from Happiness, and rapper Peakboy make up the close-knit gang.

The Wooga Squad has developed into a representation of camaraderie and support in the entertainment business throughout time.

"It was amazing to witness that"- Park Hyung-sik on how he has observed BTS and Taehyung's rise to fame

The duo met on the filming sets of the popular 2016 period drama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. The drama revolves around the Hwarang, a select group of young male warriors who mature through love and passion in the 6th century Seorabeol, the capital of the former Silla empire.

The drama had Park Seo-joon and Park Hyung-sik as the main leads alongside South Korean actress Go Ah-ra. However, as part of the supporting cast, SHINee vocalist Choi Min-ho played Soo-ho and Taehyung as Suk Han-sun along with popular actress Seo Yea-ji from It's Okay to Not Be Okay.

Park Hyung-sik told the Japanese magazine Mokkan Henshu how he witnessed the rise and growth of BTS as the boy band received numerous laurels globally and even made non-Korean fans sing along to a Korean song.

Park Hyung-sik referred to the moment during the boy band's Love Yourself: Speak Yourself Concert at Wembley Stadium in 2019 when their fans secretly surprised BTS by singing Young Forever for them.

"Not only has BTS received awards at prestigious awards ceremonies in the States, but they also got all non-Koreans to sing along to their songs which were in Korean. It was amazing to witness that." (as reported and translated by Koreaboo)

Park Hyung-sik's latest drama Doctor Slump released on Netflix in January 2024. It also starred South Korean actress Park Shin-hye from The Heir, Yoon Park from Forecasting Love and Weather, and Gong Sung-ha from Daily Dose of Sunshine.

In other news, Kim Taehyung is currently serving in the military as part of the special force unit, SDT (Special Duty Team). SDT majority tackles smuggling operations, terrorist activities, and missions. He is deployed to the 2nd Military Corps division of the Republic of Korea Army and will be discharged in June 2025.
