On January 2, 2025, the Korean media outlet Yonhap News stated that the 2nd Army Corps is gearing up for severe cold weather training, which will include BTS' V in the regiment. Reportedly, the training will commence on January 6 and it will continue until January 17. The forthcoming military training will improve combat readiness in severe conditions, with reported temperatures plummeting to -20°C.
BTS' V’s fans expressed their concern for the singer and sent their wishes ahead of his training. To express this, one user on X wrote:

BTS' V started his military service in December 2023
Kim Taehyung kicked off his military duty on December 11, 2023, beside fellow band member RM. After finishing the five-week fundamental training at the Nonsan Training Center, he was given an extra three-week training to join the Special Duty Team (SDT).
The Winter Ahead maker is currently part of the Special Military Police Force, which reports directly to the 2nd Army Corps headquarters in Chuncheon, Gangwon-do Province.
The latest cold weather training will reportedly take place in Gangwon's Chuncheon, Hwacheon, and Hongcheon districts. This exercise is designed to establish a war readiness stance even in extreme cold, where the alleged temperature plunges to -20°C.
During this time, as numerous equipment, vehicles, and troops travel on national and local roadways, the team will assess training risk factors in advance and develop responses to prevent accidents and damage.
BTS' V is expected to finish his training in June this year, along with his other teammates Jungkook, Jimin, and RM. Meanwhile, Suga, who enlisted under social services is also expected to complete his service in June as well. This will be followed by the much-anticipated BTS reunion.
