Tarot episode 1-2 recap: The cards bring forth grave happening

Santa's Visit

The first episode of Tarot started with Ji-woo and her daughter, Min-na, shopping happily in the supermarket. While keeping back a doll Min-na picked, Ji-woo found a Tarot card but got distracted by a recruitment message.

Ji-woo read Min-na a bedtime story about Tinkerbell and tucked her into bed. Min-na mentioned her friend Lily, who is shy and only appeared to her, saying Lily was in the closet. When Ji-woo checked, Min-na asked her not to disturb Lily because she was shy.

In a conversation with her mother, Ji-woo decided not to discourage Min-na from making up stories, as her mother once did with her.

Ji-woo later looked up a card online that signified good luck and opportunity. During a job interview for a supermarket cashier position, she was asked to start the next day, which was Christmas. She asked her mother for help, but her mother declined. Ji-woo told Min-na that she'd be alone in the house the next day and shouldn't let anyone in except Lily.

At the store, Ji-woo was having a hard time trying to work while making sure she was in constant contact with Min-na to ensure her safety. Min-na told her that she was playing with Santa who climbed down the chimney. She even received a gift from him. When a worried Ji-woo asked Min-na to get Santa to leave, she told her that she was going through a transformation.

In a desperate state, Ji-woo called Yoon Jong-hoon and asked him for help but he refused as well. Min-na video-called her and showed her her ballet moves.

Moreover, when she asked the manager if she could go back to her daughter, he pulled her away and accused her of stealing a doll that a customer had left behind. He even snatched away her phone when it rang and took her along to check the security cameras.

Infuriated, Ji-woo threatened to call the police, took her phone back, and leaves. Back at home, Min-na was nowhere to be found. Instead, she found a picture of a creature with horns dressed as Santa in the closet and Min-na's elf costume on the floor with the Peter-pan book underneath it.

In a flashback, she recalled that she had been calling a non-existent number thinking it was Min-na's. Additionally, her mother had asked to not send her any more folktales when she had asked her to keep Min-na with her.

Couple Manager

The second episode of Tarot opened with Min-chan finding a card at a wedding. Min-chan went to a couple manager to save his wedding with Yun-mi. The couple manager told him that they are on different hierarchies in the Marriage class and that might cause problems in the relationship.

Min-chan spoke to Yun-mi about bride's money and dowry before the wedding but she told him that she was not comfortable moving into a rented house. Though she was eager earlier, she did not seem to be too interested in getting married later, just as predicted by the couple manager. The couple manager had also promised that she would make sure the two get married.

Min-chan stole data from Yun-mi's phone and saw her chats with her friends where they were talking about finding a better man for her. Later, they argued about Yun-mi getting too friendly with one of her male colleagues.

Min-chan apologized to her and promised to buy her dinner but she told him that she had plans with her female colleagues. However, he saw her entering a house with a male colleague and got frustrated. In the morning, she lied to him about being out the entire night.

Before breaking it off with Min-chan, Yun-mi decided to go on a mountain climbing date with the colleague to know his intentions. He promised to cherish her and they decide to take a picture. While posing, Yun-mi slipped and fell off the cliff, breaking her legs.

In the hospital room, she now regretted her actions and apologized to Min-chan. Now that she has lost her ability to walk, she has been demoted in the marriage class hierarchy.

Min-chan got a promotion at work and started cheating on Yun-mi. Meanwhile, Yun-mi got expelled from her training institute due to her lack of attendance. She found a class couple manager card on her bed and decided to seek help from her. She promised to bring them both to the same level. While in bed with another woman, Min-chan got stabbed in the eye.

Now that they both are at the same level, they got married. The couple manager also attended the wedding and on the floor is the Wisdom and Prudence card which when reversed indicated greed and carelessness.

The next episode of Tarot will be released on July 22.
