On Wednesday, July 10, Billboard released an X post about the BLACKPINK members, Jennie, Jisoo, Rosé, and Lisa's latest updates. While the content was expected to unfold the schedules and recent projects of the four members, the headline they used for the X post sparked controversy among netizens. Here's what the headline wrote:

"Billboard is looking at what the women of BLACKPINK are up to, from LISA's upcoming headline performance at Global Citizen Festival to Jennie's apology for vaping indoors."

Upon reading the headline, netizens felt that Billboard was not only biased but also motivated inner-fandom wars. They expressed that while the headline showcased Lisa in a good light, it allegedly threw shade at Jennie, thereby pitting the two women against each other. Fans expressed that the headline was unnecessary and unprofessional as it communicated a bias that Billboard allegedly held.

Billboard garnered criticism and backlash for its alleged unprofessional headline. Here's how fans and netizens reacted to the same:

"The fact this is coming from a "professionals".. i expected better than this all time low headline," said a fan on X.
"This should be 2 different post but we know y u put it together.. lol," added another fan on X.
"Using blackpink for clout is embarrassing when you’re BILLBOARD," said a netizen on X.
"Corny stan fights aside, can we talk about how @billboard has an awards show for women empowerment or whatever yet they're pinning two women against each other? Billboard isn't what it used to be even popcrave is more professional yikes," added another netizen.

More netizens expressed their displeasure with Billboard's headline which resulted in Lisa and Jennie's fans going against each other.

"It's a shame both sides fell for it instead of calling billboard out," added a netizen on X.
"Tell me why i even bothered checking the qrts when i already knew i'm just gonna see a bunch of social rejects and l0sers going at it yet again ... oh,and you're weird af for this, billboard," added an X user.
"I find it incredibly funny how you found this an okay headline to post. but ty, all you're proving is jennie's ability to go viral even for something miniscule like "smoking"," said a fan on X.
"The worst promotion is taking Jennie’s hot news in selling the tickets. Not respectful but seems u all are lower than ever," said another X user.

What are BLACKPINK Jennie and Lisa's recent projects and schedules?

BLACKPINK's Lisa recently rolled out her solo single, ROCKSTAR, on June 28, through her LLOUD and RCA Records. While LLOUD is the idol's own label, which she established in February of 2024, she also signed with the American Label RCA Records owned by Sony Music Entertainment for international promotions.

The single release was a grand hit and ROCKSTAR is currently taking over the internet. Additionally, the idol will also be performing at the Global Citizen Festival which will be held in New York on September 28. The event is held as a fundraiser to unite the world to defend the planet and defeat poverty.

Jennie, on the other hand, is also rolling out several projects. The idol was spotted at the CHANEL Coco Crush pop-up in Seoul on July 3.

She also made her runway debut at the Jacquemas Fall 2024 show on June 11. On the other hand, she has also been carrying out other collaborations such as the recent Beats partnership. She's also expected to release her first solo album soon.

Fans are rooting for all BLACKPINK members and are excited to see what they have in store with their solo projects.
