On December 16, 2024, South Korean media outlet Edaily reported that a sculpture of the iconic doll Younghee from Squid Game was installed at Gwanghwamun Square in Jongno-gu, Seoul. This promotional strategy was executed to celebrate the release of the highly anticipated second season of the hit Netflix series.

According to the report, multiple citizens were seen gathering in front of Younghee's sculpture, taking pictures, and sharing them on social media handles. The city of Seoul has collaborated with Squid Game season 2 to hold a special exhibition. The collaboration aims to draw attention to Korean content during the Winter Festa, which is set to launch in December.

Photos and videos of Younghee's sculpture from Squid Game quickly circulated on social media, evoking excitement and fear among fans. An X user, reacting to the surfaced pictures of the sculpture, tweeted:

"That's scary.... Imagine walking on road and you see her."

Several fans stated that the installation of the drama's iconic character, Younghee, delighted them. They also complimented the marketing strategy adopted by Netflix for the promotion of the forthcoming series.

The upcoming dystopian and thriller drama has been created by renowned television producer Hwang Dong-hyuk. The installment is set three years after Gi-hun won the game and gave up his dream of visiting his daughter in the United States.

Subsequently, he returns to the game with a new resolution in mind, participating in the life-threatening competition for a prize worth 45.6 billion won. Many new characters will be introduced in the upcoming series. The cast of the second season includes Lee Jung-jae, Wi Ha-joon, Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Lee Jin-wook, Park Sung-hoon, Yang Dong-geun, Jo Yu-ri, Lee Seo-hwan, and others.


The much-awaited season is slated to premiere on December 26, 2024, and will be available for streaming on Netflix.
