“That Seokjin x Gucci is coming”- BTS fans' speculation fuels as they spot the luxury brand's ad featuring The Astronaut GIF

BTS' Jin returned from the military on June 12, 2024, and quickly resumed his idol life. He spoke with fans on Weverse live and held an in-person fan meet-and-greet on BTS' 11th debut anniversary on June 13, where he hugged 1,000 fans and performed. His return has been widely celebrated.

Among the many congratulations, luxury fashion house Gucci also celebrated his comeback. On June 14, a fan spotted Gucci gifts, including several bags, balloons, and a Wootteo-themed cake, outside the HYBE headquarters.

Since then, social media has been rife with speculations that the idol is being courted by the brand and may be dubbed its brand ambassador one of these days.

Additionally, the theories were further fueled when on June 19, a picture someone found started taking rounds on the internet, which features a Gucci ad showing an astronaut in outer space alongside a bag from the brand. The image further came with the words,

“An invitation to travel into the unknown.”

Seeing an astronaut in the ad likely reminded fans of Jin's song The Astronaut, which was his solo debut and parting song to ARMYs before he enlisted. In mere moments, ARMYs (BTS fans) dashed to their socials to talk about the picture, with one fan stating,

"that seokjin x gucci is coming"

Soon more comments sprang up with netizens convinced that something is in the making between BTS' eldest and Gucci.

"It should be a sign, right?" read a post.

"this is so seokjin coded im scared," wrote another netizen.

"Uh-huh give me the announcement nowwww @gucci," a comment said.

"it's bound to happen," stated an X-user.

Meanwhile, one fan completely immersed themself in wondering what the potential collaboration between Jin and Gucci might offer,

"Jin, the space boy wearing Gucci in space shuttle cockpit with no gravity or Jin in parallel universe or Jin floating in outer space - something totally different and unique and out of the box - commensurate with Jin’s creative and brilliant mind," wrote a netizen on X.

The Gucci x Kim Seok-jin (aka Jin) story extends way back, as the K-pop phenomenon was seen sporting Gucci outfits and items on several occasions previously. Be it an on-stage performance or concerts, or photoshoots, BTS' Jin has opted for the fashion house on numerous instances.

It further stirs anticipation among fans who are waiting to see if and when Gucci finally drops the announcement of the idol becoming brand representative for the label, as Jin is the only member of the BigHit Music septet who does not have a designer brand ambassadorship to his name. Interestingly, he is the global brand ambassador of a renowned ramen company named Ottogi Jin Ramen.
