More about The 8 Show featuring Ryu Jun-yeol, Chun Woo-hee, Park Jeong-min, and others
The 8 Show is a survival game drama close to the infamous K-drama Squid Game Netflix released in 2021. It is inspired by the popular webtoons Money Game and Pie Game originally written by Bae Jin-soo. Eight contestants participating in this survival show will be residing in an 8-story building, each player on a floor.
The game seems easy in the beginning, however, the conflict arises as the participants find out that each of them will be receiving a different amount of cash prize based on the floor they reside.
Furthermore, the game gets twisted when they realize that the necessities like food, electricity, and more are fixed at a special rate higher than the usual prize. They may use whatever they wish to however the money will be deducted from the main prize money.
Besides Ryu Jun-yeol and Chun Won-hee, remarkable actors Park Jeong-min, Lee Yul-eum, Park Hae-joon, Lee Joo-young, Moon Jeong-hee, and Bae Sung-woo will be showcasing different emotions through their characters in the show.
Han Jae-rim will be reuniting with Ryu Jun-yeol and Bae Sung-woo who have previously worked together in the film The King (2017) Meanwhile, Park Hae-joon and Han Jae-rim will come together once again as they are known to have worked in the film Emergency Declaration (2022).
Han Jae-rim shared the progression and navigation of the drama along with the development of the characters given the nature of the series,
He said—
“Because series tend to be longer than movies, it was easier to highlight each of the eight characters three-dimensionally.”
He also said—
“So, despite Ryu Jun-yeol’s character being the narrator, the audience can equally immerse themselves into any of their favorite characters.”
The 8 Show is scheduled to premiere on May 17, 2024. All eight episodes are set to be released together at once and will be available for streaming on the OTT platform Netflix.
