"The beefing from 14 years ago still there"- Fans recall Lee Byung-hun and T.O.P's iconic stand-off from Iris following their Squid Game 2 fight scene

On Thursday, December 26, Squid Game 2, the second season of the famous South Korean dystopian survival TV series, was released on Netflix. The show was naturally highly anticipated by many due to the expectations it set in its first season, the long wait, and the intriguing cast. Therefore, soon after its release, fans stormed in to stream the show.

One of the many scenes that went viral on the internet from the show was the fight scene between the two characters played by the former BIGBANG member, T.O.P, and Lee Byung-hun, respectively. The two played one of the several contestants in the show's sequel, and when viewers saw the scene, they were immediately reminded of a scene between the two actors from a movie fourteen years ago.

In 2019, for the film Iris: The Movie, T.O.P, and Lee Byung-hun faced each other in a stand-off. While T.O.P's character kidnapped a little girl, Lee Byung-hun's character fought him over her ransom. The face-off still stands as one of the most iconic scenes in the South Korean film industry. With the two actors fighting again in Squid Game, fans couldn't help but hilariously recall this scene.

All you need to know about the second season of Squid Game

Squid Game is a South Korean TV series that released its first episode in 2021. It revolves around a large of group contestants who are asked to participate in children's games for a tempting prize. While the offer looks reasonable in the beginning, the contestants soon find that the games come with deadly high stakes.

As the show progresses, several characters are unexpectedly killed, and the plot's progression keeps the viewers on their toes through all its episodes. Squid Game grew specifically popular for its unique take on survival series, and its impressive cast consisting of Gong Yoo, Lee Jung-jae, Jung Ho-yeon, Anupam Tripathi, etc., spiked up its fame in the industry.

Naturally, with the announcement of its season two release, many fans were excitedly looking forward to the same. Despite a three-year gap between the show's two seasons, several people swarmed in to stream the show. Squid Game 2 was released on December 26 on Netflix and many other renowned actors and familiar faces joined the cast.


Some of these new cast members include Jo Yu-ri, Im Si-wan, Kang Ha-neul, Lee Jin-wook, T.O.P, and more. Apart from the hype around its recent second-season release, fans can also expect a third season soon. The director of Squid Game, Hwang Dong-hyuk, revealed that the third and final season of the show will be released in 2025.
