On July 24, 2024, South Korean media outlet OSEN reported that HYBE denied the claims made by ADOR CEO Min Hee-jin about unauthorized access to her laptop data. Min Hee-jin filed a complaint against HYBE at Yongsan Police Station for "obstruction of business" and other issues.
The complaint was filed against several HYBE executives, including former CEO Park Ji-won, Audit Committee Chairperson Lim Soo-hyun, CSO Jung Jin-soo, CFO Lee Kyung-joon, and CCO Park Tae-hee. On the same day, Park Ji-won resigned as HYBE's CEO.
OSEN reported that HYBE issued a statement and said Min Hee-jin never handed over her laptop to the company. They asserted that Park Ji-won's resignation has no connection to her complaint.
“CEO Min Hee-jin has never submitted any information assets, including a laptop, to HYBE. She has even responded to an audit. The two vice presidents submitted information assets with their consent. The company has not forcibly acquired them."
HYBE sets the record straight by refuting Min Hee-jin's claim with court documents
HYBE said that they never conducted a forensic examination on Min Hee-jin's laptop. They asserted to prove their statement in court during the injunction hearing on May 17, 2024.
However, the company stated that the ADOR CEO used her HYBE work email account to send significant emails to others containing business material, including transcripts of her discussions with shamans. These data were retrieved from HYBE's cloud server during the ongoing police investigation against the ADOR CEO.
As reported and translated by Koreaboo, HYBE said that they will respond with a counter-lawsuit against false allegations made by the ADOR CEO.
"Despite repeatedly explaining the circumstances of how we obtained the information, CEO Min Hee-jin and others have filed a lawsuit based on false facts. We will respond to these false accusations with a countercharge for false allegations."
On July 24, 2024, the ADOR CEO's legal representative told the South Korean media outlet about filing a police complaint against HYBE executives for violation of the Act on Promotion of Information and Communications Network Utilization and Information Protection and defamation.
They named the executives in the statement and said,
"We filed a complaint at the Yongsan Police Station against Hive CEO Park Ji-won, Audit Committee Chairman Lim Su-hyeon, Chief Legal Officer Jeong Jin-soo, Chief Financial Officer Lee Kyung-joon, and Chief Communications Officer Park Tae-hee for obstruction of business, detection of contents of electronic records, etc."
In other news, Park Ji-won stepped down as HYBE CEO on July 24, 2024, and Lee Jae-sang was appointed as the new CEO. Lee Jae-sang was also appointed as the Chief Strategy Officer (CSO) of ADOR on May 30, 2024, after HYBE replaced the label's board of directors.
