BTS' Jin and Baek Jong-won’s collaboration, traditional Liquor IGIN, achieves instant sell-out success
The ready-to-drink (RTD) liquor line of the traditional beverage IGIN, a collaboration between BTS member Jin and Baek Jong-won, CEO of The Born Korea, is continuing its streak of sold-out sales.
According to GS25, a convenience store chain operated by GS Retail, on December 17, the two RTD liquor variants of IGIN sold out rapidly during the first and second days of pre-orders, which ran from December 16 to 18.
On the first day of pre-orders, which began at 11 a.m., all 4,000 sets (24,000 bottles) prepared for sale were purchased within 25 minutes. The second day’s batch sold out in a similarly brisk 30 minutes. With such demand, the final day of pre-orders, December 18, is also expected to sell out quickly.
Adding to the excitement, the IGIN pop-up store scheduled to open in Seongsu-dong, Seoul, on December 20, has garnered a lot of interest. Reservations for the event, conducted via Naver, were fully booked within just three hours of opening at noon the previous day. A total of 3,500 visitors secured their spots for the five-day event.
The IGIN traditional liquor brand, made primarily from apples grown in Baek Jong-won’s hometown of Yesan, South Chungcheong Province, gained attention even before its launch due to news of the partnership with BTS’ Jin.
The RTD liquor introduced through GS25 features a modest 4% alcohol content, making it a light and approachable beverage. It comes in two flavors: the tangy and refreshing Saekom Tonic (Apple & Plum) and the sweet Dalkom Tonic (Apple & Watermelon).
In addition to the RTD line, IGIN’s distilled liquor, sold at the offline store Jin’s Lamp in Yesan, is also seeing continued popularity. Some customers have been sharing photos of their purchases on personal social media, further fueling interest in the product.
This collaboration between a global music star and a culinary expert is being celebrated on a global scale.
