In episode 4 of When The Phone Rings, Sa-eon brings salmon and sushi for Hee-ju, who had a long day after shifting her father to a new nursing home. Later, a flashback was revealed from their childhood, where Sa-eon's mom forced him to eat Salmon, even though he did not like it.
Sa-eon observed that Hee-ju’s mom stopped her from eating too much, even when she said she had not eaten anything earlier. Sa-eon took his plate full of food and held Hee-ju's hand, taking her to a place where no one was around. He switched their plates and encouraged her to eat from his plate.
Furthermore, it was also revealed that as a kid, Hee-ju experienced a deadly accident and survived, but the chairman's son could not. Due to this, her mother, Yeon-hee, compelled her to not speak. She did not want the chairman to expel them from his house and to stay by his side, so she manipulated her to act selectively mute for the rest of her life.
