BLACKPINK's Jennie made headlines for her recent appearance at the Paris Fashion Week for the CHANEL SS25 presentation. However, on October 2, 2024, the K-pop idol and CEO of ODDATELIER went viral online, for a video clip where she allegedly faced disrespectful behavior from some fans.
In the clip, the You & Me singer-rapper was seen coming out of a store where she waved at some fans as she walked towards her car. Meanwhile, a few fans were allegedly heard making rude remarks such as,
"Are you serious? Do you hate us?"
The BLACKPINK idol then immediately turned and walked toward them with a smile. She even gave them her autographs and clicked pictures with them. However, admirers of the artist worldwide were enraged to see some fans allegedly mistreat and guilt-trip her into clicking pictures with them.
Fans claimed that the BLACKPINK idol looked tired due to her hectic schedule and was having some personal time. As soon as the clip went viral on X, BLINKs (BLACKPINK fans) tracked down the social media accounts of the four fans - Ness, Tony, Souk, and Jade. Due to the massive backlash from the idol's fans, the four individuals reportedly deactivated their X accounts.
One fan wrote on X,
"The entitlement is crazy."
The BLACKPINK idol's supporters were shocked by the individuals' alleged rude behavior toward the artist. They also called them "ungrateful" for breaching the singer's personal space and privacy.
"“Are you serious? do you hate us?” Saying that in front of her? what’s wrong with these people??? and look how jennie is still being nice to them, smiling, signing and taking selfies. UNGRATEFUL!" one fan wrote.
"In this video, we can see JENNIE being guilt-tripped by these rude people. If you get the chance to meet JENNIE, please don’t force her to do anything you want." a user added.
"That’s insane, pls always respect ur idols they do not owe us anything Jennie’s been super busy lately with her events & cb and she definitely does not hate her fans that’s the furthest reach I’ve ever heard. These are not fans. They’re even name calling her in the vid," another fan lashed out.
Some fans noted that one of the four individuals allegedly called the BLACKPINK idol a "b*tch." This further incensed the fan outrage, as they stated that the 28-year-old didn't deserve the disrespect.
"The disrespect toward Jennie in Paris today was disgusting. These losers forced her to take a picture when we all know that she’s uncomfortable around people and have anxiety, then had the nerve to call her a 'B*TCH' listen after the 'ARE U SERIOUS?'" one fan noted.
"I was really shocked. People forget that artists are humans too, their behavior is really disgusting. Following a person, staying in front of their hotel, the restaurant, everywhere she goes without giving them time to breathe. Arg. I felt bad for Jennie," another user wrote.
"She’s clearly on a private schedule. Calling her a b1tch and saying “are you serious” “do you hate us” when she’s OFF the clock, like you ppl need help. I’m tired of these ppl. I still think paparazzi should be illegal unless it’s for a official event," a fan emphasized.
