BTS' Jin drops Super Tuna (Extended Version), takes over No. 1 on iTunes worldwide charts
Super Tuna (Extended Version) was dropped on October 11 and has been reigning at No. 1 on the Worldwide iTunes Song Chart and the European iTunes Song Charts for two days in a row. Star News reported that the song climbed to No. 1 on the iTunes Top Song Chart across 57 countries and regions, including the US, Japan, Brazil, and Australia.
Additionally, on October 11, Super Tuna (Extended Version) peaked on Japan's Oricon 'Daily Digital Single Ranking' list. This is significant for the BTS ARMY as the singer asked them to not share or stream the song often during a Weverse live stream on October 10, 2024. This is because of the inside joke between him and his fans where ARMYs trended the original Super Tuna globally in 2021.
The original 1-minute song, Super Tuna, was released on December 4, 2021, on Jin's birthday. The original track was released on South Korea on kids' channels like Teletubbies, Pororo, and Baby Shark Pinkfong. The song entered the Top 10 Hot Trending Songs of the Billboard Hot 100 charts and amassed over 29 million YouTube views on the track's MV in 2021.
Following his military discharge on June 12, 2024, he re-recorded the full-length version and released it with an official music video. In the music video, the artist could be seen singing about his wish to find a tuna fish, mackerel, or even a shark.
In other news, BTS' Jin became the global ambassador for luxury brands like FRED, Gucci, and LANEIGE.
