On Friday, January 17, BOYNEXTDOOR's Jaehyun received an award at the South Korean Music Show, MCountdown. The idol is currently one of the MCs for the music show, MCountdown, alongside ZEROBASEONE's Sung Hanbin and RIIZE's Sohee. During the recent episode, BOYNEXTDOOR earned a win for their recent track, IF I SAY, I LOVE YOU.

However, the other BOYNEXTDOOR members were not present at the venue. Therefore, Jaehyun, the group's leader, stepped in as a representative to collect the trophy. As he received the award, the idol began to tear up and eventually started to sob on stage. While many fans and netizens were happy to see the idol express his gratitude, some criticized him for crying on stage for a music show win.
However, Jaehyun's fans soon came to his defense and stated that the hate towards the K-pop idol was unnecessary and forced.
