The Judge from Hell, which premiered on September 21, 2024, stars Park Shin-hye and Kim Jae-young in lead roles. It is directed by Park Jin-pyo, known for Love Forecast and Closer to Heaven, and written by debut screenwriter Cho I-su. This drama blends elements of fantasy and suspense. The last episode was released on November 2, and a second season has not been announced yet. However, its vague ending gives hope for the new season.

The story of The Judge from Hell follows Kang Bit-na, a top-tier judge who secretly serves as a demon responsible for condemning wrongdoers to hell. Her life takes a turn when she crosses paths with Han Da-on, a talented detective burdened by a painful past. The last two episodes of The Judge from Hell have Bit-na at a crossroads as she struggles to decide whether to obey Bael or give J's victims a fair trial.

The Judge from Hell Episode 13-14 Recap

In episode 13 of The Judge from Hell, Seon-ho is attacked in the jail and hence, Bit-na postpones the trial for two days. Han Da-on visits Seon-ho in jail, hoping to convince him to testify. Bit-na, as a part of her plan, makes a deal with Tae-gyu that if he continues to kill people for her, she will provide him with a lighter sentence.

On the first day of trial, Seon-ho decides to come and testify. He sits as a witness and narrates what he saw as Tae-gyu murdered people, but he does not have evidence against him. Unfortunately for Tae-gyu, the Nobong Police team has secured the tapes and recordings that he made of the victims while killing them, including So-yeong.

The Statute of Limitations on the J cases has expired and most of the evidence cannot be used. Han Da-on is brought for questioning and he narrates how J killed his parents and what he found where So-yeong had gone missing.

Everyone including her subordinates and the angel Gabriel advised Bit-na to let Tae-gyu go and kill him herself later, but she finds it wrong to crush the hope of the victim's families. She decides to give Tae-gyu the death penalty and causes a stir. Yeong-jin, motivated by Bit-na's verdict, reveals to the media that he was being paid to manipulate judgment.

In this episode of The Judge from Hell, she visits Da-on one last time to confess her love and leaves to receive her punishment. A-rong, worried, rushes to Da-on and tells her that Bit-na will get killed if he does not hurry. Da-on rushes, only to find Bit-na stabbed in the torso. He brings her to a hospital but the doctors fail to save her.

In episode 14 of The Judge from Hell, as Bit-na reaches Hell, Gabriel appears and asks Bael to send her back on God's orders. Back on earth, Mija dies but Bit-na comes back to life. In the hospital, they find out that Tae-gyu has escaped. As Seon-ho dies in prison, Tae-gyu takes a special leave and escapes. After getting a passport and his tickets arranged by his lawyer, he kills him and takes his car.

Bit-na goes after him and Da-on does the same with his team. Bit-na finds Tae-gyu in his vacation house and makes him experience being hunted and killed. She kills him multiple times in a similar fashion that he used to kill his victims. She also makes him battle Satan and kills them both. After this punishment is over, she beats him up, stabs him with her knife and sends him to Gehenna.

When the police team arrives, they find Tae-gyu hanged and caskets of the victims with their body parts in them arranged carefully with flowers. Bit-na gets another three years to stay on Earth with Da-on. She leaves the court and moves to the countryside. After two years, she is transferred to Seoul again. She decides to visit all the victims to check up on them.

She moves back to Hwangcheon Dong and shares a meal with her old neighbours, who seem to be doing well. When she goes back to her office, Bael presents himself with a message from Lucifer. Bit-na could live as a human if she sent another 10 sinners in the last year that she has left on Earth.

While on her way back from work, she meets Da-hui who is accompanied by a friend. The friend is later revealed to be the angel Gabriel. She discusses Satan's offer with Da-on who promises to support her in any decision that she takes. While on her way back from a hearing, a bunch of school kids ask her whether she is a good judge or a bad one to which she replies that she is a judge from hell.

Whether or not to expect a second season

The production has not commented on a second season of The Judge from Hell. However, since the show's ending does not answer all the questions, the audience is left wondering whether Bit-na went back to become Bael's heir or she decided to stay with Da-on. While a second season of The Judge from Hell has not been announced it is not entirely out of the question.
