On September 22, 2024, Deadline reported that BTS' Jungkook's latest documentary film titled I AM STILL earned over $2.36 million in the first week of its release in the US. According to the report, the movie was released across 720 theaters in the US on Wednesday, September 18, 2024.

It earned over $384K singlehandedly on Friday, September 20. However, from September 18 to 22, the movie generated a profit of $2.36 million. Fans were thrilled over the news as the BTS idol became the first Asian soloist to achieve the highest opening week in US cinema history.

Underscoring his global impact, a fan wrote on X and hailed him as a king:

Admirers united on X and praised the BTS sensation for owning a "remarkable" solo debut at the US box office with his documentary film.

"The most successful asian soloist, Jungkook! I felt amazed & admiration watching Jungkook remarkable solo debut in his first official docu. JUNGKOOK I AM STILL is eight months journey showcasing his rise to stardom creative process, work ethic, and challenges as a global icon!" one fan wrote.
"2.36M USD is 5 days including the projected weekend number," another fan added.
"Actually I think it’s 5 days. This includes the weekend box office deadline anticipates. So it’s not the actual but Wed-Fri actual, plus what they anticipate for the weekend," one other fan wondered.

Others highlighted the musician's "undeniable impact" across the world.

"And I'm still going to watch it TODAY," one fan said.
"Congratulations to the most perfect artist, Jungkook!" another fan mentioned.
"When we say numbers don’t lie. #1 single, album & now documentary. Jungkook undeniable impact, everything he does is golden," one other fan wrote.

I AM STILL movie consists of various materials, including behind-the-scenes looks at the Hate You singer's performances and the studio setup. It highlights the painstaking planning and unvarnished vulnerability that underpinned the SEVEN singer's pursuit of excellence.

As the movie released, it gave fans an inside look at the artist's creative process and the emotional rollercoaster he experienced while working on his debut solo album, GOLDEN. Several moments from the movie struck a deep chord with fans, such as Jungkook getting a buzzcut ahead of his military enlistment, where the hair stylist got emotional.

The film also included his iconic live performances at the TSX stage in Times Square, his live show at Manhattan's Rockefeller Center, his Good Morning America summer concert series, his performance at the Global Citizen Festival, and more.

Eagle-eyed ARMYs (BTS fans) quickly noticed that band members RM, Jin, Suga, J-Hope, Jimin, and V were specifically mentioned in the end credits. The names were mentioned in the end credits in order of the BTS fan chant under the "featured appearances" section.


In other news, the BTS members RM, Suga, j-hope, Jimin, and V along with the GOLDEN artist have been serving in the South Korean military. j-hope is set to be discharged in October 2024, while the rest will return in June 2025.
