BTS Jin has done it again. Jin dropped the OST track Close to You for the drama series When the Stars Gossip on January 26, and the song peaked at number #2 on the Worldwide iTunes song chart.
Close to You was at the top of the charts with #1 on iTunes in 23 countries and counting. The heartfelt ballad by the vocalist was very well received by fans and critics alike.
The song describes the growing love between the leading pair, Eve Kim (Gong Hyo-jin) and Gong Ryong (Lee Min-ho). It also aptly highlights their feeling with a soft, emotive melody that stays long after it has ended.
The soundtrack features in episode 7 of the series and conveys Gong Ryong's love for Eve.

Fans could not keep calm and took to social media to express their thoughts about the song topping the iTunes chart. One fan on X remarked,

Many fans also emphasized that Jin achieved this feat without any heavy promotion or even a single mention by the singer himself. A fan remarked,

This is not the first time Jin has made waves. He has previously worked on two original soundtracks: Yours from the drama series Jirisan and It's Definitely You from the series Hwarang. He released the latter with his bandmate V, who played a pivotal role in the series.
Yours peaked at #1 in World Digital Song Sales on Billboard charts. It also topped the iTunes song charts, becoming one of the most successful Korean original soundtracks. It's Definitely You also charted at #8 in World Digital Song Sales, making it the first from their group, BTS, to be listed in a self-credited solo track on the Billboard charts.
