Lisa, BLACKPINK rapper and LLOUD's CEO, shared a ROCKSTAR TikTok dance challenge with Seventeen's Mingyu on July 21, 2024. The clip went viral on social media as both fandoms cheered watching the two BULGARI ambassadors come together for the first time to make a TikTok video.
For the uninitiated, Lisa released her comeback solo single, ROCKSTAR, on June 28, 2024. After leaving YG Entertainment in December 2023, she founded her company, LLOUD, in February 2024. The new single was released under LLOUD and in partnership with the American record label, RCA Records.
ROCKSTAR became the first YouTube video in 2024 to surpass 33 million views within 24 hours of its release. Meanwhile, the latest TikTok challenge quickly earned millions of views and likes. One fan expressed their delight and wrote on X:
"THE UNEXPECTED COLLABORATION!?!??!!"
Others rallied behind the post and shared their excitement over the new video. They highlighted that Seventeen's Mingyu is the first idol with whom a BLACKPINK member has filmed a TikTok challenge.
"The likes and views have spoken, the new real power duo and declared this as a safe place," one fan wrote on X.
"I did not expected her to do any challenge with other artists at all BUT SHE DID AND THE FIRST ONE BEING MINGYU OMG," another fan wrote.
"He is literally the first idol apart from the pinks that she posted in her sns ever!! They're literally besties," another fan added.
Some fans compared the internet craze to a hypothetical situation of Normani (Fifth Harmony) and Zayn (One Direction) doing a dance challenge to help non-K-pop fans understand it better.
"You'll get 100k likes when u gather the most popular member in bp & svt in one video," one fan said.
"People used to pray for such idol interactions and Lisa and Mingyu doing god's work for us," another fan commented.
"For non-kpop fans, this is like normani and zayn in a dance challenge together," one fan explained.
