On September 9, 2024, BTS' Kim Taehyung caused a storm on the internet after he reportedly joined a "Kim Taehyung" fan group chat on KakaoTalk and dropped his selfie. The Love Me Again singer-songwriter allegedly joined a random group chat and dropped a few messages asking fans about their well-being.

The BTS member eventually succeeded in joining a group chat full of ARMYs after failing to get into other random group chats due to a strict verification process. He wrote,

"How has everyone been~? I came here because the other rooms had made the verification process too difficult. Oh, haha. Aren't you going to say hello? I have to go do evening roll call now. I'll come to hang out again next time. You worked hard today"

However, fans refused to believe that he was Kim Taehyung of BTS and asked him to reveal his true identity. In response, the BTS star reportedly dropped a mirror selfie in his military uniform, and told them that he had come home for a day off and was heading back to the barracks.

Immediately, the screenshots from the KakaoTalk group chat went viral online. One BTS ARMY wrote on X,

"The most unserious man to ever exist"

Several fans recalled how the Love Me Again singer-songwriter had done a similar thing in the past in 2019. Earlier, in 2019, BTS' Kim Taehyung aka V, joined a random KakaoTalk group chat to speak to his fans. After introducing himself, he was penalized by the group admin as nobody believed he was one of the famous BTS members. To prove his identity, he sent an audio record to the group.

"I still have the ones from the past saved when he used to do this and send voice notes to prove that it was him when armys accused him of lying some things really do Never change," one fan wrote.
"He did the same 5 years ago, he entered some groupchat with his name as Kim Taehyung, and they kept telling him to change it to his real name," another fan recalled.
"This is so Taehyung coded just like that time he joined that online game and ofc it’s the 7 on the floors behind him love this guy," another fan said.

Others noticed that the elevator mirror behind the BTS singer was flashing the seventh floor, leading them to surmise that the singer purposefully took a photo on that particular floor to symbolize his band.

"AND OFC THE ELEVATOR IS ON FLOOR 7. SEVEN. He definitely did that on purpose," one fan highlighted.
"Taehyung basically joined a Kakao talk group chat, did chatting for sometime & when Army's did not believe it was him, he posted his Selfie there making the Army's go crazy," another fan commented.
"Taehyung joined a random kakaotalk group chat, said hes Kim Taehyung, nobody believed him (cant blame them) so he sent a mirror selca of himself as proof… wHAT EVEN WENT IN HIS MIND TO DO THIS SO RANDOMLY LMAO MAN WAS BORED AF FREE HIM," another fan joked.

BTS' Taehyung came online on Weverse and interacted with fans

On September 8, 2024, the Layover singer-songwriter came online on Weverse and posted a picture with his pet, Yeontan. He praised Megan Thee Stallion's latest single, Neva Play (feat. RM of BTS).

BTS leader, RM (Kim Namjoon), was featured on Megan Thee Stallion's Neva Play which was released on September 6, 2024.

BTS' V praised the new song and said that he couldn't help but come online and applaud it.

"I want to try it. And Neva play, crazy, crazy. I can't help but not come. Bye"

Currently, BTS' V has been serving in the South Korean military since December 11, 2023. He enlisted alongside Namjoon, and was later deployed to the Special Duty Team (SDT) unit on January 18, 2024.

Both Namjoon and V graduated as Elite Soldiers on January 16, 2024, after completing their five weeks of enlistment training. They will return to the entertainment industry in June 2025.
