On Thursday, December 5, THE BOYZ's new agency, One Hundred released a statement expressing that the group has received the official trademark rights to their group name. Therefore, despite the change in their agency from IST Entertainment to One Hundred, they can continue to promote under the same name, THE BOYZ.
The statement was released through the South Korean media outlet, OSEN. Here's what the statement read:
"Today (the 5th), One Hundred met with IST Entertainment and smoothly reached a mutual agreement on the use of the 'THE BOYZ' trademark and other agreements."
IST Entertainment also released a statement on December 4 regarding the trademark rights for THE BOYZ to promote under their group name. This statement was a response to another claim made by One Hundred, which allegedly stated that IST Entertainment was unwilling to give trademark rights to THE BOYZ.
However, the statement clarified the confusion that the agency was unwilling to give One Hundred trademark rights. Therefore, the rights have now been transferred to the 11 members of the K-pop group who can continue to use and promote under the same name regardless of the agency they're housed under.
Following this news, fans celebrated the news of the K-pop boy group's ability to keep their name. Here are a few reactions regarding the same:

IST Entertainment releases statement clarifying confusion on THE BOYZ's trademark rights for their group name
On December 4, One Hundred, THE BOYZ's new agency released a statement expressing that despite negotiations with IST Entertainment, they couldn't come to an agreeable conclusion about the group's name. Here's what their statement read:
"ONE HUNDRED has done its utmost to negotiate with IST Entertainment regarding the trademark rights. The members also worked tirelessly until the very end, even until today, to retain the trademark rights for the sake of their fans. However, it is deeply regrettable that a positive outcome could not be reached with IST Entertainment."
Soon, IST Entertainment also released a statement in response expressing that they transferred the trademark rights directly to the members and not to their new agency.
Here's what IST Entertainment said:
"Contrary to what has been reported, we have decided to provide all 11 members of THE BOYZ with the right to use their trademark free of charge, and we have conveyed this intention to the members. We intended to make it possible to use the trademark free of charge in any activity (including unit and group activities) to which the members agreed."
While there was much confusion around whether or not the group would be able to retain their group name, fans were happy to realize that the issues have now been solved.
